Asia’s largest Aviation Expo-Wings India 2024

⇒ The largest event in the Civil Aviation sector in Asia, the mesmerizing four-day “Wings India 24” extravaganza kickstarted in Hyderabad on 18 January 2024.

    • The inaugural session of the Global Aviation Summit was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia.
Seven major announcements were made during the inaugural session of Wings India 2024:
    1. Release of the joint knowledge paper on civil aviation by FICCI and KPMG
    2. Launch of UDAN 5.3
    3. Launch of the Airbus-Air India Training Centre, with the purchase of more airplanes and the setting of a flight training center in Gurugram with 10 flight simulators and 10,000 pilots being trained in the coming years
    4. Airbus manufacturing contracts with TATA ASL and Mahindra Aerospace Structures Pvt Ltd to foster more pilots.
    5. GMR and IndiGo also signed a consortium to collaborate with multiple patterns in developing sustainable training in the aerospace industry
    6. Inauguration of the GMR School of Aviation
    7. Deal announcement of Akasa Air with a triple order of 200 aircrafts in a period of 17 months
» Asia’s largest Aviation Expo-Wings India 2024 was held from January 18-24, 2024 at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad.
Theme:

Spanning across commercial, general, and business aviation, the theme for the show was “Connecting India to the World in Amrit Kaal: Setting the Stage for India Civil Aviation @2047”.

Organised by:

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India, Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized the ‘WINGS INDIA 2024’, a flagship event on Civil Aviation sector in this part of the world.

Host State:

The host state was Government of Telangana.

Partner States: 

Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Odisha.

» The Wings India 2024 witnessed an overwhelming participation.
    • It was attended by several dignitaries including the Civil Aviation Minister of Government of India, Aviation/Transport Ministers of various countries, Transport and Civil Aviation Ministers of some Indian States, Government officials, global CEOs, business leaders and others.
    • The gathering also featured globally acclaimed Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), non-scheduled operators, helicopter manufacturers, Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) companies, lessors, globally emerging advanced air mobility companies, startups, flying training organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.

» Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia presented the Wings India Awards 2024.

    • Wings India awards are the benchmark for Excellence for those demonstrating the best practices and innovation in the aviation sector.

    • Best Airport of the year: Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru and Delhi International Airport Limited (Joint Award)
    • Best Airline of the Year: Vistara-Tata SIA Airlines Limited
    • Best Aviation Service Provider: GMR Group
    • Lifetime Achievement Award: Ms. Tulsi N Mirchandaney, Former MD, Blue Dart (Iconic Women in Aviation)

Vice-President presents SCOPE Excellence Award

⇒ Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), the apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) organized SCOPE Awards on 18th January 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

    • The Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar presented the SCOPE awards.
Important Winners:

» REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC, has been honored with the prestigious Scope Excellence Award in the category of Special Institutional Category (Digitalization).

    • The award acknowledges REC Limited’s unwavering commitment to the digitalization of its workplace and the promotion of best practices in establishing a paperless office.
    • This accomplishment underscores REC Limited’s dedication to embracing technological advancements and fostering a culture of innovation within the organization.

» NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company, has been awarded SCOPE’s ‘Commendation Certificate’ in the category of Effective Implementation of RTI Act.

Background:
    • SCOPE was established in 1973 as an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), and is dedicated to promoting competitiveness and excellence within the PSE sector.
    • The SCOPE Excellence Award recognizes and commemorates exemplary performances of Public Sector Enterprises.
    • These Awards, for the first time, were instituted for the year 1996-97 and are given in the Institutional & Individual Categories.
