National Award 2021 to 'Breathe Applied Sciences'

⇒ A startup from Bangalore, Breathe Applied Sciences has received the National Award 2021 from Technology Development Board (TDB) for developing a commercial solution for conversion of CO2 to chemicals and fuels.

Breathe Applied Sciences, a startup incubated at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research developed efficient catalysts and methodologies for the conversion of CO2 to methanol and other chemicals.

Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court

⇒ The President of India appointed Shri Justice Alok Kumar Verma, Additional Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, to be a Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court. The Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice issued a notification regarding this on 24 May 2021.

Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court

⇒ The President of India appointed Shri Vikas Bahl, to be an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, for a period of two years. The Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice issued a notification regarding this on 24 May 2021.

International

Three-year Work Program Agreement between India and Israel

⇒ India and Israel signed a three-year work program agreement for development in Agriculture cooperation.

The Governments of Israel and India have agreed to enhance their cooperation in agriculture to take forward the ever-growing partnership in agriculture.

Centres of Excellence and Villages of Excellence:

India and Israel are implementing the “INDO-ISRAEL Agricultural Project Centres of Excellence” and “INDO-ISRAEL Villages of Excellence”.

Indo-Israel villages of excellence are implementing to create a model ecosystem in Agriculture. The Centres of Excellence generate knowledge, demonstrate best practices and train farmers.

The ‘INDO-ISRAEL Villages of Excellence’ program will focus on the following:
    • Modern Agriculture infrastructure
    • Capacity Building
    • Market linkage
Duration:

The three-year work program from 2021 to 2023 reflects the strength of growing bilateral partnership. The program will benefit local farmers both through the Centers of Excellence and the Villages of Excellence.

Aim:

The work program will aim to grow existing Centres of Excellence, establish new centers, increase CoE’s value chain, bring the Centres of Excellence into the self-sufficient mode, and encourage private sector companies and collaboration.

Andrew Cuomo's Book

⇒ The book “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons From the Covid-19 Pandemic” has been authored by Andrew Cuomo. The book was published by Crown Publishing Group in October 2020.

In this book, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo tells the riveting story of how he took care of city during the battle of COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 Global Liveability Index

⇒ The 2021 Global Liveability Index was published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The Liveability Index examined 140 cities worldwide to quantify the challenges presented to an individual’s lifestyle in the past year. 

In the Global Liveability Ranking 2021 finds that Auckland is the most liveable city in the world while Damascus remains the world’s least liveable city.

Head Coach of Indian Cricket Team for Sri Lanka Tour

⇒ The former India player & National Cricket Academy chief, Rahul Dravid will be head coach of a Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team that will tour Sri Lanka for a white-ball series next month. India will play three T20Is and three ODIs in Sri Lanka between July 13 and 27.

Death

Indian Shooting Coach, Monali Gorhe

⇒ Indian shooting coach Monali Gorhe died on 20 March 2021.  She was 44.

Monali was the coach of the pistol core group.  She had also served as the national coach of the Sri Lankan shooting team.
