1111th ‘Avataran Mahotsav’ of Bhagwan Shri Devnarayan Ji

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the ceremony commemorating the 1111th ‘Avataran Mahotsav’ of Bhagwan Shri Devnarayan Ji in Bhilwara, Rajasthan on 28 January 2023.

    • The event marks the birth anniversary of Lord Devnarayan, a folk deity revered by the Gurjar community, in Bhilwara.
    • The programme was held at Malaseri Dungri village, the birthplace of Lord Devnarayan, who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The village is 60 km from Bhilwara.

Bhagwan Shri Devnarayan Ji is worshipped by the people of Rajasthan, and his followers are spread across the length and breadth of the country. He is revered especially for his work towards public service.

National Summit on Quality of Biologicals

⇒ Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the National Summit on Quality of Biologicals, organized by the National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) in New Delhi on 27 January 2023.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stressed on the need to initiate studies using state-of-the-art analytical platforms to promote the development of pharmacopeial monographs for new biologicals made from updated technologies.

Key Points:
    • The National Summit acted as platform to bring together stakeholders, regulatory authorities & academia for interaction on various aspects of quality assurance of biologicals.
    • These interactions led to capacity building, technology enhancement and development of newer biologicals for promoting and safeguarding public health contributing towards government’s mandate of ‘Healthy India’.

1st ever National Vendor Interaction Program-2023

⇒ Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) Visakhapatnam Steel Plant organised the 1st ever “RINL NVIP-2023- National Vendor Interaction Program-2023 at Visakhapatnam steel plant on 28 January 2023.

Key Points:
    • The National Vendor Interaction program, organized for the 1st time by RINL, has provided a useful forum for the Sellers to interact with RINL Management.
    • Over 200 vendors from various parts of the country have actively participated in the program.

Khadi Fest- 2023

⇒ Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, inaugurated the Khadi Fest- 23 on 27 January 2023 at KVIC, Mumbai in the presence of Shri Vinit Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC and other senior officials.

The Khadi Fest 2023 was organised from January 27 to February 24, 2023 at the KVIC Headquarters in Vile Parle, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Key Points:
    • In this Khadi Fest, Khadi and Village Industries Institutions, PMEGP units from various parts of the country affiliated to Khadi and Village Industries Commission showcased their products for exhibit and sales.
    • In addition to cotton khadi, khadi silk, pashmina, poly vastra, patola Silk, kalamkari sarees, kanjivaram silk, light weight soft silk sarees, tussar silk, fulkari dress materials and other attractive apparels made of khadi fabrics, madhubani prints, dry fruits, tea, kahwa, beauty herbal and ayurvedic products, honey products, hand paper products, home decor products, Bamboo Products, Carpets, Aloe Vera Products, Leather Products and many other Khadi and Village Industries products were available.

Brand Ambassador of India’s largest producer of iron ore, NMDC

⇒ National miner and India’s largest producer of iron ore, NMDC, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with World Boxing Champion and gold medal winner of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Nikhat Zareen to represent NMDC as its brand ambassador in January 2023.

2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup

⇒ The 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup was held in South Africa from 14 January to 29 January 2023.

    • The 2023 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup was the first edition of the ICC Women’s U19 Cricket World Cup. It was hosted by South Africa.
Winner:

Indian Women’s Cricket Team won the 2023 ICC Under 19 T20 World Cup. India defeated England by 7 wickets to become the inaugural champions of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

    • The final took place on 29 January 2023 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

    • Most runs: Shweta Sehrawat (India) (297 runs)
    • Most wickets: Maggie Clark (Australia) (12 wickets)
