Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Lab in NIELIT Gorakhpur

⇒ Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Shri S Krishnan (IAS) inaugurated Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Lab in NIELIT Gorakhpur on 16th October 2023 during 26th All India Director’s Meet of NIELIT.

The Secretary, MeitY said that this state-of the-art RPA lab is going to play a pivotal role in transforming India into a global technology powerhouse. He also emphasized the role of RPA in improving services to citizens by automating repetitive, manual processes such as data entry and verification, thereby reducing clerical errors and response time.

Key Points:
    • The state-of-art RPA lab has been built under the Future Skill PRIME Project funded by MeitY with an objective to upskill/reskill manpower in emerging technology of RPA.
    • This is the First-of-its-kind lab in Uttar Pradesh under FutureSkill PRIME Project, which has been established to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia.
About 26th All India Director’s Meet of NIELIT:

» The two-day long 26th All India Director’s Meet of NIELIT held on 16th & 17th October, 2023 at the NIELIT Centre Gorakhpur and was addressed by Shri S Krishnan (IAS), Secretary, MeitY. 

    • The Meeting was attended by all the Executive Directors, Directors and Director In-Charges of all the 49 NIELIT Centres across the India.
    • The objective of Directors Meet is to harness the capabilities and resources available with the Centres & to bring collective efforts and plans towards addressing digital skilling needs of the country.

» During the event, Prof Poonam Tandon, VC, DDU Gorakhpur and Dr M M Tripathi, DG, NIELIT also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

    • The MoU has been signed for conducting employment-oriented courses and training in future skill technology in Gorakhpur region, which will make the candidates industry-ready in the field of IECT.

» DDU is having 350+ colleges and 3 lakhs candidates. This alliance will help them to get benefitted with internships and programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level in IECT sector along with Skilling in of youths of Purvanchal who are comparatively Economical weaker will a boost in their employability.

    • DDU is planning online programs and NIELIT association will help university as well students and faculty to learns in the environment of international standard.

President Droupadi Murmu receives copy of book titled 'Igniting Collective Goodness: Mann ki Baat@100’

⇒ President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu received a copy of the book titled “Igniting Collective Goodness: Mann ki Baat@100” at Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 10, 2023.

Key Points:
    • The book, ‘Igniting Collective Goodness: Mann Ki Baat @ 100,’ pays tribute to this inspirational journey, featuring a special foreword authored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
    • The book is compiled by BlueKraft Digital Foundation and published by Westland Books.

    • The book highlights Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unique approach to recognising individual and collective efforts not just in India but also overseas.
    • The book demonstrates how these developments, from environmental conservation to technological innovation, cultural preservation to social welfare, have ignited thoughtful conversations and research, advancing the nation’s progress and prosperity.

Launch of Web Portal ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ with activity-based support material on Mission Chandrayaan-3

⇒ Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched a web portal ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ having activity-based support material such as quiz, puzzles, etc for school students on Mission Chandrayaan-3, in New Delhi on 17 October 2023.

The web portal has been developed by NCERT under the aegis of the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education.

About Web Portal:
    • The web portal launched has a set of colouring books, online quizzes, jigsaw puzzles, picture builders, and inspiring stories in the form of graphic novels on Chandrayaan 3.
    • For the Foundational and Preparatory levels colouring sheets, dot-to-dot activities, colour coding with instructions etc. have been prepared that will develop observation and awareness among the students.
    • There will be online interactive quizzes for the Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary levels including explanatory feedback for responses.
    • Digital certificates will be issued for all those who score more than 70%, and the first 1000 winners will receive age-appropriate books.
    • Jigsaw Puzzles and Picture Builders for the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary levels have also been developed.
    • Also, there will be inspiring stories in the form of graphic novels depicting events that shaped ISRO’s journey up to Chandrayaan 3.
» Union Minister also released 10 special modules on Chandrayaan-3, offering a comprehensive overview of its various facets – including scientific, technological, and social aspects, as well as the emotional journey and team spirit of the scientists involved.
    • In addition to these, 10 special modules were released in multiple languages for the stakeholders on the success of Chandrayaan 3 that will motivate Indian youth to venture more and more into science and technology.
    • These modules offer a comprehensive overview of its various facets – including scientific, technological, and social aspects, as well as the emotional journey and team spirit of the scientists involved.
    • The content is rendered in an interactive and engaging manner, enriched with graphics, photographs, illustrations, activities, challenging questions, and more, spanning across all five stages and covering Classes I-XII of school education.

Inclusion of Cricket in 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games

⇒ The 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session was held in from 14 October to 17 October 2023 in Mumbai, India.

    • Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 141st IOC Session at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai on 14 October 2023.
» During the 141st IOC session, the LA28 Organizing Committee proposed the inclusion of five additional sports to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
    • These five additional sports were baseball-softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse and squash.
    • These five sports have been approved at the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai, India.

Cricket is now officially a part of LA28, marking the sport’s return to the Olympic stage after 128 years. Cricket was a part of the 1900 Olympics in Paris with only two teams – one from Great Britain and one from France – competing for medals.

» The 2028 Summer Olympics and commonly known as Los Angeles 2028 or LA28, is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, California, United States from July 14 to 30, 2028.

Padma Shri Awardee, Spiritual Leader Bangaru Adigalar

⇒ Spiritual Guru Shri Bangaru Adigalar, popularly known as ‘Amma’, passed away in Melmaruvathur in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpet district on 19 october 2023. He was 82.

About Shri Bangaru Adigalar:
    • Adigalar, 82, brought in revolutionary reforms such as paving the way for women to enter the sanctum sanctorum of Shakti temples. Also, Adigalar brought healthcare facilities and founded educational institutions to serve the people.
    • He was conferred the Padma Shri Award in 2019 for his spiritual services to the nation.
