Indigenously Developed Oxygen Enrichment Technology

⇒ CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur, in association with MSME-DI, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Government of India jointly organised a Webinar on ‘Oxygen Enrichment’ Technology on 25th April, 2021.

Oxygen Enrichment Technology has two distinct modules, one for the Oxygen Enrichment unit at the top and another for the air compressor unit at the bottom.

The CSIR-CMERI indigenously developed Oxygen enrichment technology may effective for treating COVID-19 patients.

Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court

⇒ The President of India has appointed Shri Justice Rajesh Bindal, senior-most Judge of Calcutta High Court as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court. He will perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, with effect from 29th April, 2021.

Shivalik Small Finance Bank Limited as a Small Finance Bank

⇒ Shivalik Small Finance Bank Limited has commenced operations as a small finance bank with effect from April 26, 2021.

The Reserve Bank has issued a licence to the bank under Section 22 (1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to carry on the business of small finance bank in India.

Meghalaya presented their Jal Jeevan Mission Annual Action Plan

⇒ The State of Meghalaya presented their Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Annual Action Plan on 27 April 2021 with details of the plan for the financial year 2021-22 to achieve ‘Har Ghar Jal’.

Achievement:

Meghalaya State has 5.89 lakh rural households, out of which tap connections are provided to 93 thousand (16%) rural households. The State has provided 87 thousand tap connections on 2020-21.

Plan for 2021-22:

The State plans to achieve the target (100% saturation) of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ by December, 2022. Under JJM, during 2021-2022, Meghalaya State is likely to get about Rs 350Crore Central funds.

Gujarat presented their Annual Action Plan under Jal Jeevan Mission

⇒ The State of Gujarat presented their Annual Action Plan for 2021-22 under Jal Jeevan Mission with details of the saturation plan for the financial year 2021-22. During the presentation, Gujarat reiterated the commitment to achieve ‘Har Ghar Jal’ target by 2022-23.

Achievement:

The State has over 93 lakh rural households, out of which 77.16 lakh (83%) have tap water supply. 12 lakh tap water connections have been provided in rural households in Gujarat in the last 1½ year under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Plan for 2021-22:

In 2021-22, the State plans to provide 10 lakh tap water connections in the rural areas of the State. In the 2021-22, Gujarat is likely to get about Rs 2,000 Crore as Central funds to take up various works under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Indian Classical singer, Pandit Rajan Mishra

⇒ Indian Classical singer, Pandit Rajan Mishra died in Delhi on 25 April 2021. He was 70.

Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra are brothers & they belong to the Benaras gharana. Rajan and Sajan Mishra have been renowned singers of the khayal style of Indian classical music.

Both Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra were conferred with the Padma Bhushan in 2007. They were also conferred with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, jointly in 1998.

Gujarati Poet, Dadudan Gadhvi

⇒ Renowned Gujarati poet & folk singer Dadudan Gadhvi died on 26 April 2021. 82 years old Dadudan Gadhvi was also known as ‘Kavi Dad’.

He was honoured with Padma Shri Award in 2021 for his contribution to the field of art and literature. He had written songs for 15 Gujarati films, which were collected in Terva and Lachhanayan.

Senior IIS Officer, Manikant Thakur

⇒ Senior IIS officer Manikant Thakur passed away on 25 April 2021 in Delhi. Mr Thakur was serving as Chief of Media in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
