Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’

⇒ Indigenously developed helicopter launched Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’ was successfully flight tested on April 11, 2022 at high-altitude ranges as part of user validation trials.

Conducted by:

The flight-test was jointly conducted by the teams of scientists from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF) at Pokhran in Rajasthan.

    • The flight trials were conducted from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and the missile was fired successfully engaging simulated tank target.

» Helina can strike targets up to 7km away. It has been developed by Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad.

Madhavpur Ghed Fair 2022

⇒ The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated four-day long Madhavpur Ghed Fair 2022 at Madhavpur Ghed, Porbandar in Gujarat on April 10, 2022.

The Madhavpur Ghed Festival was held from 10th to 13th April 2022.

Organized by:

The festival was organized by Government of Gujarat in partnership with Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

» Since 2018, the Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Culture is organizing this fair every year to celebrate the sacred union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.

Saksham-2022

⇒ ‘Saksham’, an annual people-centric mega campaign of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, was launched by Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Chairman-PCRA.

    • The campaign was launched on 11 April and continued till 30 April 2022.
Tagline:

The tagline of the campaign was “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav through Green & Clean Energy / हरित और स्वच्छ ऊर्जा अपनाएं, आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव मनाएं”.

» During ‘Saksham-2022’, numerous programs and activities have been conducted by PCRA in association with upstream/downstream Oil & Gas Public Sector companies across the country.

About Campaign:

It is a flagship public awareness campaign to spread the message of Fuel Conservation and Energy Efficiency and help in building a cleaner and greener India and also reduce its reliance on crude oil imports.

National Time Release Study (TRS), 2022

⇒ Shri Vivek Johri, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) released National Time Release Study (TRS), 2022.

» TRS are essentially a performance measurement tool for assessing the cargo clearance process of the international trade, as recommended by the World Trade Organization (WTO) under the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).

    • It adopts average cargo release time, i.e. the time taken from the arrival of the cargo at the customs station to its eventual release for import or export, as the case may be.
Highlights:

» The National Time Release Study (NTRS) 2022 covered 15 major Customs formations, including four port categories – seaports, air cargo complexes (ACCs), inland container depot (ICDs) and integrated check posts (ICPs); which handle about 80 percent of the bills of entry (imports documents) and 70 percent of the shipping bills (export documents) and is based on the sample period between 1st – 7th January 2022.

» The NTRS 2022 has reported further improvement in the average cargo release time for all the four port categories in 2022 over corresponding period of the previous year: by 2 percent for ICPs to significantly higher 16 percent for ACCs.

» For the sea cargo cleared through the sea port or inland container depots average release time has improved by 12 percent.

» With this improvement, the ICPs have achieved the National Trade Facilitation Action Plan (NTFAP) target release time to be achieved by 2023, whereas the other three port categories have reached 75 percent of NTFAP target.

New Prime Minister of Pakistan

⇒ Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was sworn-in as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan on 11 April 2022.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani administered the oath of office to 70-year-old Shehbaz in the absence of President Dr Arif Alvi.

Important Day

World Homoeopathy Day 2022

⇒ World Homoeopathy Day is observed every year on 10 April.

World Homoeopathy Day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of Homoeopathy, Dr. Christian Fredrich Samuel Hahnemann. This year marks the 267th birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Fredrich Samuel Hahnemann.

Theme:

In India, the theme for World Homoeopathy Day 2022 was ‘Homoeopathy: People’s Choice for Wellness’.

» The day highlights the importance of a field of medicine and its ability in eradicating some of the tough-nut-to-crack ailments.

Convention:

A two-day scientific convention was organized in New Delhi under the aegis of Ministry of Ayush by three apex bodies, namely, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, National Commission for Homoeopathy and National Institute of Homoeopathy on the occasion of the World Homoeopathy Day.

    • The scientific convention was held from 9April to 10 April, 2022 on the theme ‘Homoeopathy: People’s Choice for Wellness’.
