Chief Executive Officer of public broadcaster Prasar Bharati

⇒ Senior IAS officer Gaurav Dwivedi has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of public broadcaster Prasar Bharati on 14 November 2022.

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu has appointed, after due recommendation by the Selection Committee, Shri Gaurav Dwivedi, as Executive Member (Chief Executive Officer) in Prasar Bharati for a period of five years from his assumption of charge.

Other Points:
    • Shri Dwivedi is an Officer of the Indian Administrative Service, Batch of 1995, of the Chattisgarh cadre.
    • Earlier, Dwivedi was the Chief Executive Officer of MyGovIndia, the citizen engagement platform of the government.
    • Shashi Shekhar Vempati was the CEO of Prasar Bharati from 2017 to 2022.

12th PRCI Excellence Awards 2022

⇒ NMDC bagged the Champion of Champions Award, sweeping the 16th PRCI Global Communication Conclave 2022, to bring home fourteen Corporate Communication Excellence Awards.

    • The awards were presented at the Global Communication Conclave organized by Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) in Kolkata on 12th November, 2022.
    • There are 57 categories for the award this year. In each subject Gold, Silver, and Bronze Trophy is awarded for the meritorious entry selected.
NMDC’s Awards:
    • NMDC won Gold awards for Most Resilient Company of the Year; Internal Communication Campaign, Corporate Brochure; Best PSE Implementing CSR.
    • It won Silver Awards in the categories of Best Use of CSR for Childcare; Corporate Community Impact; Best Corporate Event; Unique HR Initiatives; Annual Report; Arts, Culture & Sports Campaign.
    • It also won the Bronze Awards for Visionary Leadership; Website of the Year; Innovative Environmental Program and Consolation Award for Best Use of social media.
Other Award Winners:

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ and a Fortune Global 500 Company, bagged a total of 9 Excellence Awards for Corporate Collaterals at the 16th Global Communication Conclave.

BPCL was awarded for purpose-driven public relations and brand strategy that adds delightful dynamism towards communication and the manner in which BPCL leverages the power of both traditional and digital media to reach the relevant target audience.

    • The company received 9 awards under the categories – Public Relations, Business Campaigns, Use of Social Media & Campaigns, Annual Report, Corporate Events and Corporate Responsibility Campaign.

    • The PRCI annual corporate collateral awards for Corporate Communications are presented annually to recognize talent and professional standards.
    • Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) is a pan-India Communication Exchange forum with its presence in 38 Indian cities and towns.

Inauguration of 1.5 km long 2-lane elevated Bridge near Panduka on Son river in Rohtas

⇒ Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 1.5 km long 2-lane elevated R.C.C.bridge near Panduka on Son river in Rohtas, Bihar at a cost of Rs 210 crore.

    • The foundation stone for the construction of the bridge was laid on 14 November 2022 in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tejashwi Yadav, and MPs, MLAs and officers.
» Speaking on the occasion Shri Gadkari said with the construction of this bridge, NH-19 and NH-39 will be directly connected, which will facilitate traffic between Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
    • He said at present, a distance of 150 km has to be covered to reach Srinagar from Panduka in Rohtas district and Garhwa district of Jharkhand, with the construction of this bridge, four hours will be saved in this journey.

Two National Highway projects worth Rs 3,390 crore in Buxar

⇒ Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated two National Highway projects worth Rs 3,390 crore in Buxar on 14 November 2022.

Shri Gadkari said that these two National Highway projects will ease connectivity with Purvanchal Expressway.

About Projects:
    • The two National Highway projects include 44 km 4-lane Koilwar to Bhojpur section on NH-922 constructed at a cost of Rs 1662 crore and 48 km 4-lane Bhojpur to Buxar section on NH-922 constructed at a cost of Rs 1728 crore.
    • This will make it easy to reach Delhi from Bihar via Lucknow.
    • The time taken to reach Delhi will be reduced from 15 hours to 10 hours.

Yachting Association of India (YAI) Senior National Sailing Championship 2022 (Asian Games selection trial)

⇒ The Yachting Association of India (YAI) Senior National Sailing Championship 2022 (Asian Games selection trial) was conducted for senior classes of boats from 13 to 20 November 2022.

It was conducted by Indian Navy Watermanship Training Center (INWTC), Mumbai under the aegis of the YAI and Indian Naval Sailing Association (INSA) for senior Asian Games classes of boats. The races were conducted off Mumbai harbour.

Key Points:
    • The event was a YAI ranking event and selection trial for the forthcoming Asian Games scheduled in China in September 2023.
    • Over 115 sailors, from 15 sailing clubs across the country, had registered for the event.
    • A series of 12 races per class was scheduled in eight class of boats viz., ILCA 7, ILCA 6, 49er, 49erFX, 470, NACRA 17, RS:X and IQ Foil in men, women and mixed categories.
    • These classes included iQFoil (men and women foiling windsurf), NACRA 17 (mix foiling catamaran), ILCA 7 (men single-handed dinghy), ILCA 6 (women single-handed dinghy), 470 (mix), 49er (men skiff), 49erFX (women skiff) and RS:X (men and women).
    • The Yachting Association of India (YAI) Senior National Championship 2022 (first of three Asian Games selection trials) concluded on 20 November 2022.
