Book ‘Raj Kapoor: The Master at Work’

⇒ The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu released the book ‘Raj Kapoor: The Master at Work’ authored by well-known film director, Rahul Rawail in New Delhi on 14 December 2021.

Shri Naidu complimented Shri Rahul Rawail and his co-author, Ms Pranika Sharma for bringing out this remarkable memoir of legendary filmmaker- Raj Kapoor, who is acclaimed as the greatest showman of Hindi cinema.

‘LokpalOnline'

⇒ Chairperson, Lokpal of India, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose inaugurated’ a digital Platform for Management of Complaints called ‘LokpalOnline’ on 13 December 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose said:
    • LokpalOnline is an end-to-end digital solution for the management of complaints against public servants filed under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013.
    • LokpalOnline is a web-based facility, which will quicken the disposal of complaints in an accountable, transparent and efficient manner with benefits to all stakeholders.
    • It facilitates handling of complaints during the complete lifecycle of the Complaint, right from its filing to the final disposal and this will bring more transparency and efficiency in the complaint handling mechanism.
Background:

The Lokpal of India, has been established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 to inquire and investigate into allegations of corruption against public functionaries falling within the scope and ambit of this Act.

DRDO developed products

⇒ Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh handed over five Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) developed products to the Armed forces and other security agencies at an event held at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi on December 14, 2021.

    • He also handed over six Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreements to seven public and private sector companies.
    • Raksha Mantri hands over DRDO developed products to Armed Forces as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations and iconic week of Ministry of Defence.
Products:

Products handed over to the Armed Forces & Ministry of Home Affairs are Anti-Drone system, Modular Bridge, Smart Anti Airfield Weapon, Chaff Variants and the Light Weight Fire Fighting Suit.

Counter drone systems:

Counter drone systems has been developed by DRDO for detection, deterrence and destruction of incoming drones. It was handed over to CISC.

Modular bridge:

Modular bridge developed by R&DE (Engineers) is a single span, mechanically launched assault bridge of military load class MLC-70, and can be launched in different spans. It was handed over to Chief of Army Staff, General M M Naravane.

Smart Anti Airfield Weapon:

The Smart Anti Airfield Weapon (SAAW), an air launched, long-range, stand-off, air-to-surface Smart Bomb, was handed over to the Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari.

Advanced Chaff:

The variants of Advanced Chaff were handed over to the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar.

Structural fire-fighting suit:

Structural fire-fighting suit developed by DRDO’s Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES), Delhi was handed over to Shri V S K Kaumudi, Special Secretary, MHA.

» The LAToT (Transfer of Technology) documents of seven DRDO developed systems were handed over during the event for the systems/technologies namely− Coastal Surveillance Radar, Automatic Chemical Agent Detection and Alarm (ACADA) & Chemical Agent Monitor (CAM), Unit Maintenance Vehicle, Unit Repair Vehicle, Fused Silica based Ceramic Core technology and the Fire Suppressing Gel.

CII Partnership Summit 2021- A Dialogue on Focused Tracks for a New World

⇒ The CII Partnership Summit 2021 was organized from 12th-15th December 2021.

The CII Partnership Summit 2021 was an opportune platform to capture ideas and perspectives and to consolidate partnerships for meeting global challenges and ensuring a collaborative approach to achieving global goals.

The Summit brought together government leaders, industry, experts and analysts, to engage and participate in shaping debates on global economic dimensions as well as India’s growth and external engagement.

The CII Partnership Summit 2021 had 9 focused tracks:

Growth, G20 Leadership, Competitiveness, Trade Policy, Investments, Sustainability, Technology, The Social Dimension, and Geopolitics

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal addressed the “CII: Partnership Summit -Ministerial Meeting” virtually from New Delhi on 14 December 2021.

He called upon fellow Ministers of neighbouring countries to work together to transform the subcontinent.

Universal Health Coverage Day 2021

⇒ Universal Health Coverage Day is celebrated every year on 12 December all over the world.

It marks the anniversary of the United Nations’ historic and unanimous endorsement of universal health coverage in 2012.

Aim:

Universal Health Coverage Day is the annual rallying point for the growing movement for health for all.

International Universal Health Coverage Day aims to raise awareness of the need for strong and resilient health systems and universal health coverage with multi-stakeholder partners.

Theme:

The theme of Universal Health Coverage Day 2021 was “Leave No One’s Health Behind: Invest in Health Systems For All”.

Background:

On 12 December 2017, the United Nations proclaimed 12 December as International Universal Health Coverage Day (UHC Day) by resolution 72/138.
