NIOS Diploma course in Yogic Science

⇒ Minister of State for Education Shri Sanjay Dhotre launched National Institute of Open Schooling-NIOS Diploma course in Yogic Science on the occasion of International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2021. The Minister released the self-instructional material of the course.

The two-year Diploma programme has five subjects in the first year in which Yoga Teaching Training will be taught and in the second year five subjects related to Yoga Therapy will be taught.

Revised edition of Yoga Sachitra book

⇒ On the occasion of the 7th International Day of Yoga, Directorate of Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reprinted the revised edition of Yoga Sachitra book. The first edition of book was published twenty-six years ago.

This illustrated book by renowned Yoga expert Dharmavir singh Mahida is in Hindi langauge.

This illustrated book beautifully encapsulates the eight limbs of Yoga – Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. Along with this, it has been focused specifically on Yogasanas.

Mukesh Ambani announced investment in Clean Energy

⇒ Mukesh Ambani on 24 June 2021 announced a Rs 75,000 crore investment in setting up four ‘Giga’ factories to make solar photovoltaic cells, green hydrogen, batteries and fuel cells over the next three years.

Mukesh Ambani said Reliance will set up 100 GW of solar power generating capacity.

Four Giga Factories to manufacture and integrate all critical components of new energy ecosystem are:

Solar photovoltaic module factory; Energy storage battery factory; Electrolyser factory; Fuel cell factory

These four factories will involve an investment of Rs 60,000 crore. An additional Rs 15,000 crore will be invested in the value chain, partnerships and future technologies, including upstream and downstream industries.

MoU Between India & Fiji

⇒ Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Fiji’s Minister of Agriculture, Waterways & Environment, Dr Mahendra Reddy signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of Agriculture and allied sectors between India and Fiji, on 22 June 2021.

The MoU provides cooperation in the various fields:

Dairy Industry Development; Rice Industry Development; Root crop diversification; Water Resources Management; Coconut Industry Development; Food Processing Industry Development; Agriculture Mechanization; Horticulture Industry Development; Agricultural Research; Animal Husbandry; Pest and Disease; Cultivation; Value Addition and Marketing; Post-Harvest and Milling; Breeding and Agronomy

» Under the MoU, a Joint Working Group will be established to set down procedures and plan and recommend programs of cooperation towards achieving its aims.

» The Working Group will hold its meetings alternatively in India and Fiji once in every two years.

» The MoU will remain valid for a period of five years from the date of its signing.

Indian Navy-US Navy Carrier Strike Group Passage Exercise

⇒ Indian Naval Ships Kochi and Teg along with P8I and MiG 29K aircraft were participated in a Passage Exercise with US Navy Carrier Strike Group Ronald Reagan during its transit through Indian Ocean Region on 23 and 24 June 2021. The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is currently deployed in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The aim of two-day exercise was to strengthen the bilateral relationship and cooperation by demonstrating the ability to integrate and coordinate comprehensively in maritime operations.

7th International Day of Yoga

⇒ Since 2015, International Day of Yoga is celebrated all over the world on 21st June every year.

UN’s theme for 7th International Day of Yoga:

The UN’s theme for International Day of Yoga 2021 was ‘Yoga for well-being’. The theme focused on practising Yoga for physical and mental well-being.

History:

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY) in their resolution adopted on 11th December 2014.
