Launch of 3-year partnership with Meta, Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a generation of students, educators and entrepreneurs

⇒ Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched a 3-year partnership “Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a generation of students, educators and entrepreneurs” between Ministry of Education, Ministry Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Meta in New Delhi.

    • 3 Letters of Intent (LoI) were exchanged between Meta and NIESBUD, AICTE and CBSE on 04 September 2023.

Speaking at the event, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that the initiative launched today is in furtherance to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a skill capital of the world and empowering our Amrit Peedhi.

    • He further said that ‘Education to Entrepreneurship’ partnership is a game-changer, which will take Digital Skilling to the grassroots. This will build capacities of our talent pool, seamlessly connect students, youth, workforce & micro-entrepreneurs, with futuristic technologies and transform our Amrit Peedhi into new-age problem solvers and entrepreneurs.
    • Guided by the tenets of NEP, META’s partnerships with NIESBUD, CBSE & AICTE will catalyse infinite possibilities for equipping our population with critical digital skills and empowering micro entrepreneurs and small businesses, he added.
Key Points:
    • Under the partnership with NIESBUD, 5 lakh entrepreneurs will get access to digital marketing skills by Meta over the next 3 years.
    • Budding and existing entrepreneurs will be trained in digital marketing skills using Meta platforms in 7 regional languages to begin with.
    • Three short films were also showcased highlighting the details about the partnerships.

Malaviya Mission - Teachers Training Programme

⇒ Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Malaviya Mission – Teachers Training Programme by the University Grants Commission at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi in September 2023.

    • He also inaugurated the Portal of the Programme and released its information brochure.
Aim:

Organised by the University Grants Commission, in association with the Ministry of Education, the Malaviya Mission – Teacher Training Programme aims to provide tailored training programmes for teachers. This programme will work for the capacity building of faculty members in higher educational institutions.

While launching the training programme for teachers, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan also announced the renaming of Human Resource Development Centres (HRDCs) as Madan Mohan Malaviya Teachers’ Training Centre.

    • He mentioned that this programme will ensure continuous professional development and help in building capacities of 15 lakh teachers of HEIs through 111 Malaviya Mission centres across India in a time-bound manner.
    • This Programme is an endeavour to make our educators future-ready with a deeper understanding of Indian values. It aims to improve the quality of teachers’ training, build leadership skills in teachers and help realise the goals of NEP.
Key Points:

» The two-week online programme shall focus on various themes identified for course curriculum/content for capacity building of faculty members at higher educational institutions.

    • The 8 themes include Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), Academic Leadership, Governance and Management, Higher Education and Society, Research and Development, Skill Development, Student Diversity and Inclusive Education and Information and Communication Technology.

» To facilitate this transformative journey, the UGC has also established a dedicated portal for faculty members to register for the capacity-building programmes.

Department of Justice launches "Nyaya Vikas Portal"

⇒ The Department of Justice launched ” Nyaya Vikas Portal”, a web portal & mobile app in collaboration with ISRO, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the Development of Infrastructure facilities for the Judiciary to monitor newly created infrastructure under the scheme & its effective implementation.

Nyaya Vikas:
    • The Department of Justice has been implementing the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Districts and Subordinate Judiciary since 1993-94.
    • Under the Scheme, the central assistance is provided to the State Government / UT Administrations for construction of court halls and residential units for Judicial Officers / Judges of District and Subordinate Courts.
    • With further extension of the scheme beyond 31 March 2021, some new features like Lawyers Hall, Toilet complexes and Digital computer rooms have been added to the scheme for the convenience of lawyers and litigants, besides court halls and residential units.
    • The funds sharing pattern under the Scheme for Center and State is 60:40 in respect of States other than North Eastern and Himalayan States.
    • The funds’ sharing pattern is 90:10 in respect of North Eastern and Himalayan States; and 100% in respect of Union Territories.

» This portal has been created for monitoring the implementation of this Scheme.

Important Day

7th Foundation Day of IEPFA

⇒ Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), in collaboration with Institute of Company Secretaries in India (ICSI) and National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) held a conference on 05 September 2023 in New Delhi.

    • The conference on the topic “Understanding the Psychology of Scams: How to Avoid Fraudulent Schemes” was organized on the 7th Foundation Day of IEPFA.

During the event, two significant educational resources were unveiled. The “Fundoo-nomics” board game, a unique initiative of IEPFA’s Media & Awareness wing based on IIT Delhi’s Department of Management findings for IEPFA’s on-ground activities; was introduced.

    • This innovative game aims to simplify financial concepts and promote financial literacy across various age groups.

The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) was set up on September 7, 2016, under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, for administering the Investor Education and Protection Fund for making refunds of shares, unclaimed dividends, and matured deposits/debentures, among other things, to investors.
