The FIFA World Cup 2022 was held in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. It was the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup.

  • The FIFA World Cup is a quadrennial world championship for national football teams organized by FIFA. The tournament is held every four years, first played in 1930 in Uruguay.

Host:

Qatar was the host country for 22nd FIFA World Cup. It was the first time that the World Cup was held in the Arab world and the Muslim world. It was the second held entirely in Asia, following the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.

Mascot:

Qatar and FIFA have unveiled ‘La’eeb’ as the Official Mascot for 22nd FIFA World Cup.

  • La’eeb is an Arabic word meaning super-skilled player. La’eeb will be known for his youthful spirit; spreading joy and confidence everywhere he goes.

FIFA World Cup 2022: Final Match

The final was played on 18 December 2022 between Argentina and France at the Lusail Stadium, Lusail.

Winner:

Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup by defeating defending champion France. Argentina defeated France 4–2 in a penalty shootout after the match ended 3–3 in regular time. It was Argentina’s third title.

After Argentina won, it was the first time a South American team had won the World Cup in 20 years.
