India- Mongolia Joint Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2025 was conducted in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from 31st May to 13th June 2025.
- This is the 17th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT.
Defence Secretary, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh along with Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, Director General Operational Logistics and Strategic Movement, attended the closing ceremony on 13 June 2025 in Ulaanbaatar.
Contingent of 17th Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2025:
Indian contingent:
- The Indian Army contingent, comprising 45 personnel predominantly from a battalion of the ARUNACHAL SCOUTS, actively participated in the two-week-long exercise.
Mongolian Armed Forces contingent:
- The Mongolian Armed Forces contingent also comprised similar strength. The Mongolian Armed Forces contingent was represented by 150 Special Forces unit.
Objective of Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2025:
The focus of the joint training was to enhance interoperability between the Indian Army and the Mongolian Armed Forces while operating as a combined task force in semi-conventional scenarios in semi-urban and mountainous terrain under United Nations mandate.
Scope of Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2025:
» The scope of this exercise involved Platoon level Field Training Exercise.
- During the exercise, Indian and Mongolian troops engaged in various training activities to include endurance training, reflex shooting, room intervention, small team tactics and rock craft training, among others.
- In addition, to enhance complexity of exercise, aspects pertaining to Cyber Warfare were also incorporated in this edition of the exercise.
- Soldiers from both sides also learned from each other’s operational experience.

» The 16th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise, Nomadic Elephant 2024 was conducted from July 3-16, 2024 at Umroi, Meghalaya.
