52nd International Film Festival of India in Goa

The 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), was held in Goa in a hybrid format from November 20-28, 2021, screened international films drawn from 73 countries at the festival.

Conducted By:

The festival is conducted jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals (under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) and the state Government of Goa.

In 52nd 'International Film Festival of India':

Opening film:

The King of all the World’ (El Rey de Todo El Mundo), Directed by- Carlos Saura

Mid fest film:

The Power of the Dog, Directed by- Jane Campion

Closing film:

‘A Hero’, Directed by: Asghar Farhadi

Golden Peacock Award:
Golden Peacock Award for Best Film:

Japanese Film ‘Ring Wandering’, Directed by- Masakazu Kaneko

Silver Peacock Award:
Silver Peacock Award for Best Director:

Václav Kadrnka (Czech Director), for ‘Saving One Who Is Dead’, a Czech film

Silver Peacock for Best Actor (Male):

Indian and Marathi Actor, Jitendra Joshi, for the film ‘Godavari’

Silver Peacock Award for Best Actor (Female):

Angela Molina (Spanish Actor), for her role as Charlotte in the film Charlotte (directed by Simon Franco)

Silver Peacock for Special Jury Award: (Both the film and the individual shared the award)
  1. Special Jury Award for Film: Marathi film Godavari by Nikhil Mahajan
  2. Special Jury Award for Best Actress: Actress Renata Carvalho, for the movie ‘The First fallen’ by Brazilian Film maker Rodrigo de Oliveira

ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Award:

‘Lingui, The Sacred Bonds’ by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun

The film was co-produced by Belgium France Germany and was made in Arabic and French.

About: The ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Award is being given to a film that best reflects Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of peace, tolerance and non-violence.
