Entries:

The National Film Development Corporation of India invited online entries for the awards. This year, the awards saw 400 entries in the feature film category, 161 in non-feature films, 38 books, and 24 critics’ submissions.

The 72nd National Film Awards for the year 2024 were announced, celebrating outstanding achievements in Indian cinema, recognising excellence across a wide range of categories including feature films, non-feature films, and writing on cinema.

Highlights of 72nd National Film Awards 2024:

  • Article 370 won the Best Feature Film award, while Bhangaar was named Best Non-Feature Film and Ram-Nami received the Best Documentary award.
  • Yami Gautam won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for Article 370, while Mammootty (Bramayugam) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) shared the Best Actor in a Leading Role award.
  • Randeep Hooda won the Best Debut Director award for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
