Inauguration of Pradhanmantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra in Himachal Pradesh

⇒ Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the Pradhanmantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra in Pragpur at Kangra, Himachal Pradesh on 14 June 2021.

On the occasion, Shri Mandaviya informed that the Government has set a target to increase the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) to 10000 by March 2024.

As on 11th June, 2021, the number of stores has increased to 7836. Similarly, in the State of Himachal Pradesh, 66 Jan Aushadhi kendras have been opened.

The present Minister of State in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers is Shri Bhagwanth Khuba.

Nation's first power-free CPAP device 'Jivan Vayu'

⇒ Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has developed a device ‘Jivan Vayu’ which can be used as a substitute of CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine.

This is Nation’s first such device which functions even without electricity. It is adapted to both kinds of oxygen generation units like O2 cylinders and oxygen pipelines in hospitals.

‘Jivan Vayu’ can deliver high flow oxygen (20–60 LPM) while maintaining a continuous positive pressure of up to 20 cm H2O.

The device is designed to maintain a FiO2 of above 40% with a PEEP (positive end-expiratory pressure) of 5-20 cm H2O.

It aims to save lives in low resource areas and during transit.

Indian Micro-blogging Site, Koo launched Assamese Service

⇒ Indian micro-blogging platform Koo launched the app in Assamese. Assamese keyboard on Koo is making it much easier for the people of Assam to connect with each other in their mother tongue. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on 16 June 2021 released the first message in Koo in the Assamese language.

New Prime Minister of Nepal

⇒ Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba became the Prime Minister of Nepal for the fifth time on 13 July 2021. President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office to Deuba at a ceremony held on 13 July.

He has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal following the decision of the Nepal Supreme Court.

Nepal Supreme Court on 12 July 2021 reinstated the dissolved lower house of Parliament and issued a mandamus ordering the appointment of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister within two days.

World Expo 2020 at Dubai, UAE

⇒ World Expo 2020 at Dubai will be organized from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022.

Title of the Expo 2020:

The title of the Expo is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

Participants:

192 countries will participate in this Expo, where India will showcase 11 Themes including the Space Technology.

Latest ICC Test Rankings for batsmen

⇒ The latest ICC Test Rankings for batsmen were released on 30 June 2021.

In the Rankings list:

» New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson placed on top position.

» Australian player, Steve Smith has slipped to 2nd place. Smith conceded the top spot two weeks ago.

» India skipper Virat Kohli remains at the fourth position while Rohit Sharma has moved up to the sixth spot. India wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is seventh.

Legendary Actor, Dilip Kumar

⇒ Legendary Actor, Dilip Kumar also known as Mohammed Yusuf Khan passed away on 7 July 2021 in Mumbai. He was 98.

Some of his best known films are Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Gunga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam, Naya Daur, Madhumati, Kranti, Vidhaata etc.

He was the first actor to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1954, and won it a total of 8 times. He and Shah Rukh Khan jointly hold the record for most Filmfare trophies.

He was conferred with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015, for his contributions to film.

In 1994, he was awarded with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest honor in the field of cinema.

He is listed in the Guinness World Records for winning the maximum number of awards by an Indian actor.

In 1998, the Government of Pakistan conferred Dilip Kumar with Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the highest civilian decoration, making him the only Indian to have received the honour.

Veteran actor, Chandrashekhar

⇒ Veteran actor Chandrashekhar died on 16 June 2021. He was 98. He was best known for featuring in films like Cha Cha Cha, and Surang, and playing the role of Arya Sumant on the popular TV serial Ramayan.
