‘PARIMAN’ Geo-Portal for NCR

⇒ Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Chairman, NCRPB and Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs launched the Geo-Portal for NCR known as ‘PARIMAN’ at the 40th meeting of the Board on 31st August 2021.

    • Now, with an intent of optimum utilization of resources in Public interest, NCRPB has made the Geo-Portal open to Public.
Key Points:
    • National Capital Region (NCR) is presently spread over 55,083 Sq Kms and has four participating states (24 Districts and entire NCT of Delhi) as its constituent area.
    • For the purpose of effective utilization of Remote Sensing and GIS technology, a web geo-portal has been developed through National Informatics Centre (NIC), initially for use by NCR Participating states and the Office of NCRPB.
    • This Geo-Portal will help to improve decentralized planning and management in NCR region.
    • The Portal consists of around 179 Layers presented as Line, Point & Polygon feature covering details of various sectors like Land Use, Transport, Industries, Water, Power, Health, Shelter, Heritage & Tourism, Disaster Management, etc.

India Stack Knowledge Exchange 2022

⇒ As part of the Digital India Week 2022 celebrations, the 3-days long virtual event titled ‘India Stack Knowledge Exchange 2022’ was held from 7th July to 09th July, 2022.

Key Points:
    • The event was an opportunity to showcase India’s most significant contribution to the Digital world – the India Stack, which is a unified software platform to bring India’s 1.4 billion population into the Digital Age.
    • The objective was to give an orientation to the basic building blocks of India Stack, which is driving Digital Transformation in India.
    • Indiastack.global was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 4th July 2022, and is a single repository of all major projects on India Stack.
    • This programme witnessed participation from across the world.
Thematic sessions:

» Day 1 witnessed the thematic sessions on ‘prime product, the Aadhaar’, ‘UPI: Leading Digital Payment Ecosystem in India’, ‘Paperless Governance and Data Empowerment’.

    • A parallel session was organized alongside, which brought to the participants the achievements India has achieved in the Education sector through Technology Stack.

» Day 2 witnessed the thematic sessions on ‘Health Stack’, ‘AgriStack’, and ‘Technology Stack for Skilling’ and ‘Digital Inclusion –Connecting the Unconnected’.

» On the final day of India Stack Knowledge Exchange 2022, it culminated with the three brainstorming thematic sessions on ‘Urban Stack’, ‘Technology Stack for e-Commerce’ and ‘Space Technology Stack’, followed by a valedictory session.

World record in Nagpur: Construction of longest Double Decker Viaduct

⇒ Team Maharashtra Metro & Team NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) on achieved the world record in Nagpur by constructing longest Double Decker Viaduct (3.14 KM) with Highway Flyover & Metro Rail Supported on single column.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari tweeted that constructing Maximum Metro stations (3 Metro Stations) on Double Decker Viaduct in Nagpur, recognized by Asia Book of Records & India Book of Records, this is indeed a proud moment for the entire country.

8th Meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers

⇒ The 8th Meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers was held in virtual mode on 06 July 2022. It was held under the presidency of China.

» Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, participated in the meeting and highlighted achievements of India in the field of ICT.

    • He also underlined the reforms undertaken by Government in Telecom sector.
Key Points:
    • The Ministers decided to work in the field of ICTs in areas identified at the 14th BRICS Summit held on 23-24 June 2022.
    • All Ministers appreciated the work-plans finalized for BRICS Institute for Future Networks (BIFN), Digital BRICS Task Force (DBTF) and hoped that these mechanisms will help in deepening Innovative cooperation among BRICS countries.
    • The Ministers also adopted a Declaration of the 8th BRICS Communications Meeting.
    • All Ministers appreciated India’s offer for platforms for Digital Public Goods like Aadhar, CoWin, UPI and Diksha and decided to further collaborate in this area.

INS Tarkash conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise with Sudan Navy Ships

⇒ Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS Tarkash, visited Djibouti as part of her long-range overseas deployment followed by Maritime Partnership Exercise with Sudan Navy.

» INS Tarkash conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise with Sudan Navy ships Almazz (PC 411) and Nimer (PC 413) in the Red Sea near the Sudan Naval Base on 07 July 2022.
    • The exercise included manoeuvres, flying operations for vertical replenishment, visit and board operations, and communication procedures.
    • It provided opportunity for exchange of professional experiences and strengthening maritime cooperation between the two countries.
About INS Tarkash:
    • INS Tarkash is a state-of-the-art platform and has a weapon-sensor fit that enables her address threats in all dimensions.
    • The ship is part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet and functions under the operational command of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.

22nd National Fish Farmers Day

⇒ National Fisheries Development Board, Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, celebrated the 22nd National Fish Farmers Day on 10 July 2022 in a hybrid mode at NFDB Hyderabad.

    • The National Fisheries Development Board was established in 2006 as an autonomous organization under the administrative control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

National Fish Farmers Day is celebrated on 10th July 2022 every year to demonstrate solidarity with all fisher folk, fish farmers and concerned stakeholders throughout the Country.

History:
    • Every year, this annual event is celebrated to commemorate Professor Dr. Hiralal Chaudhury and his colleague Dr. Alikunhi for their contribution in achieving the successful induced breeding of major carps on 10th July, 1957 at Angul in Odisha.
    • They achieved the successful induced breeding of major carps for the first time in the country through administration of carp pituitary hormone extract in the breeding of major carps.
    • The technology was later on standardized and fine-tuned by developing synthetic hormone for quality seed production across the country.
    • This pioneering work of induced breeding over the years has transformed the growth of aquaculture sector from traditional to intensive aquaculture practices and led to success of modern aquaculture industry.
