National:

India’s 42nd Ramsar site:
  • Tso Kar Wetland Complex in Ladakh has been added as India’s 42nd Ramsar site under the Ramsar Convention, which is second one in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Tso Kar Wetland Complex is now a Wetland of International Importance.
    The Tso Kar Basin is a high-altitude wetland complex, consisting of two principal waterbodiesStartsapuk Tso, a freshwater lake; & Tso Kar (itself), a hyper saline lake, situated in the Changthang region of Ladakh, India.
    Ladakh’s First Ramser site Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri was added in year 2002.
First Batch of Indian Institute of Skills in Mumbai:
  • Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey inaugurated the first batch of Indian Institute of Skills in Mumbai, on December 25, 2020.
    The institute is a joint initiative between Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India and Tata Indian Institute of Skills. First batch will include two short-term courses in Factory Automation and Digital (Smart) Manufacturing.
Special Postal Stamp:
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on December 22, 2020 released a special postal stamp to mark the centenary celebrations of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Parthisubba Award 2020:
  • Veteran Yakshagana ”Prasanga” writer D S Sridhar of Shivamogga has been selected for the Parthisubba award 2020. This award has been instituted by the Karnataka Yakshagana Academy. The award ceremony will be held in February, 2021 at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru.
