3rd edition of ‘Kotak Private Banking Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women List
⇒ Kotak Private Banking – a division of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited, and Hurun India on 27 July 2022 announced the launch of the 3rd edition of ‘Kotak Private Banking Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women List’. It is a compilation of the wealthiest women in India. The list is based on the net worth of women as on 31st December, 2021.
- The 2021 edition of the report focuses exclusively on women who have established themselves in the higher echelons of the corporate world.
Highlights:
- Roshni Nadar Malhotra, HCL Technologies is the wealthiest woman on the list with a wealth of INR 84,330 crore, for the second year in a row.
- Falguni Nayar overtook Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon to become the richest self-made woman in India with a wealth of INR 57,520 crore.
- On the top 10 wealthiest India women list, Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw was at third position with a total wealth at Rs 29,030 crore, followed by Nilima Motaparti of Divi’s Laboratories. Motaparti’s wealth was estimated at Rs 28,180 crore.
- Zoho’s Radha Vembu stood at fifth position (Rs 26,260 crore), Leena Gandhi Tewari of USV at sixth (Rs 24,280 crore), Anu Aga & Meher Pudumjee of Thermax at seventh (Rs 14,530 crore), Confluent’s Neha Narkhede at eighth (Rs 13,380 crore), Dr Lal PathLabs Vandana Lal at ninth (Rs 6,810 crore), and Renu Munjal of Hero FinVCorp was at tenth position (Rs 6,620 crore).
- Thirty-three-year-old Kanika Tekriwal of Jetsetgo is the youngest self-made woman in the list.

Trend on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India
⇒ As per the UNCTAD World Investment Report (WIR) 2022, in its analysis of the global trends in FDI inflows, India has improved one position to 7th rank among the top 20 host economies for 2021.
- UNCTAD’s annual World Investment Report monitors global and regional foreign direct investment (FDI) trends and presents key national and international investment policy developments.
- The 2022 edition of the World Investment Report examines cross-border investment flows’ recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, looking at greenfield investment in selected industries, project finance in infrastructure, and the largest multinationals’ production activities.
Highlights:
- Singapore (27.01%) and USA (17.94%) have emerged as top 2 sourcing nations in FDI equity flows into India in FY2021-22 followed by Mauritius (15.98%), Netherland (7.86%) and Switzerland (7.31%).
- India is rapidly emerging as a preferred country for foreign investments in the manufacturing sector. FDI Equity inflow in Manufacturing Sectors have increased by 76% in FY 2021-22 (USD 21.34 billion) compared to previous FY 2020-21 (USD 12.09 billion).
- Despite the ongoing pandemic and global developments, India received the highest annual FDI inflows of USD 84,835 million in FY 21-22 overtaking last year’s FDI by USD 2.87 billion. Earlier, FDI inflows increased from USD 74,391 million in FY 19-20 to USD 81,973 million in FY 20-21.
- Top 5 sectors receiving highest FDI Equity Inflow during FY 2021-22 are Computer Software & Hardware (24.60%), Services Sector (Fin., Banking, Insurance, Non-Fin/Business, Outsourcing, R&D, Courier, Tech. Testing and Analysis, Other) (12.13%), Automobile Industry (11.89%), Trading 7.72% and Construction (Infrastructure) Activities (5.52%).
- Top 5 States receiving highest FDI Equity Inflow during FY 2021-22 are Karnataka (37.55%), Maharashtra (26.26%), Delhi (13.93%), Tamil Nadu (5.10%) and Haryana (4.76%)
- Top 5 sectors receiving highest FDI Equity Inflow during FY 2021-22 are Computer Software & Hardware (24.60%), Services Sector (Fin., Banking, Insurance, Non-Fin/Business, Outsourcing, R&D, Courier, Tech. Testing and Analysis, Other) (12.13%), Automobile Industry (11.89%), Trading 7.72% and Construction (Infrastructure) Activities (5.52%).

⇒ Shri Satyendra Prakash assumed charge as Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB) 01 August 2022. Prior to this he held the position of Principal DG, Central Bureau of Communication.

⇒ The Ministry of Culture organized “TirangaUtsav” -an evening filled with cultural and musical performances to celebrate the contributions of Pingali Venkayya to the nation on the occasion of his 146th Birth Anniversary in New Delhi on 02 August 2022.
Key Points:
- The commemorative Postal Stamp in the honor of Pingali Venkayya was released by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah during the event.
- The Tiranga Utsav also witnessed the grand launch of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” anthem and video.
About Pingali Venkayya:
- Shri Pingali Venkayya, who designed the national flag, was born on 02 August 1876.
- Pingali Venkayya, a freedom fighter and the designer of India’s National Flag was a follower of Gandhian principles, and it was upon the request of Mahatma Gandhi that he designed the Indian National Flag with saffron, white and green colors with chakra in the middle.

⇒ The 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Formula 1 Race took place over, 70 laps of the 4.381-kilometre Hungaroring in Budapest on 31 July 2022.

Red Bull Racing, RBPT Driver won 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix (FORMULA 1 ARAMCO MAGYAR NAGYDÍJ 2022).
Mohun Bagan Ratna 2022
⇒ Former India forward Shyam Thapa, who earned the reputation as a master of back volley during his playing days, has been chosen as the recipient of this year’s Mohun Bagan Ratna.
The club conferred its highest award on the septuagenarian on Mohun Bagan Day i.e. July 29, 2022.
- The club celebrates 29 July every year as Mohun Bagan Day.
» In honour of former secretary Anjan Mitra, the club has introduced another award for the best sports official and two-time I-League champions Gokulam Kerala FC’s president VC Praveen will be the first recipient.
» The Arun Lal award for the best cricketer was conferred on Prinan Dutta.
