  • Former J&K Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu appointed as CAG (Comptroller Auditor General) of India on 06 Aug 2020. He is 1985 batch IAS Officer. G C Murmu will replaces Rajiv Mehrishi. Rajiv Mehrishi retiring on 07 Aug 2020.
  • On the occasion of 6th National Handloom Day on 07 Aug 2020, Minister for Industries and Commerce Mekapati Goutham Reddy said the government would launch e-marketing facility for weavers on October 2. This facility will create efforts to fetch better return on their products.
  • The Handloom Export promotion Council is organizing virtual fair. Aim of this fair is to connect more than 150 participants from different regions of the country showcasing their unique designs and skills. The Indian Textile sourcing fair will be open on 7, 10 and 11 August. Exquisite Patolas, Paithanis, Ikats, Kandangis, Maheshwaris, Venkatagiris and numerous other GI tagged products will be on display for the International buying community to directly from the masters themselves.
  • Binish Desai, got sobriquet of “Recycle Man of India“, when he was invented P-Block bricks from industrial paper and gum waste. Now he is working on converting used face masks into bricks & his new project is Bricks 2.0.
  • Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared victory in parliamentary election. The party won 145 of the 225 seats and also won five more seats from its allies.
  • Educationist Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi is appointed as the chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 07 Aug 2020 . His tenure as chairman will be end on May 12, 2021. He will succeed Arvind Saxena, whose tenure completes on 07 Aug.
