New Generation Nuclear Capable Ballistic Missile Agni P

⇒ Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested a New Generation Nuclear Capable Ballistic Missile Agni P from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha, Balasore on June 28, 2021.

About Missile:

Agni P is a new generation advanced variant of Agni class of missiles. It is a canisterised missile with range capability between 1,000 and 2,000 kms.

Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court (Acting)

⇒ President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind appointed Shri Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath, senior-most Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court with effect from 1st July, 2021.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice on 28 June 2021.

Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial and Cultural centre in Lucknow

⇒ The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind laid the Foundation stone of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial and Cultural centre in Lucknow on 29 June 2021.

The Centre will popularise the ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Shafali Verma becomes the youngest player in the country to make debut in all formats

⇒ Indian opener Shafali Verma on 27 June 2021 became the youngest player from the country to make debuts across all formats, after being picked for the first ODI against England Women. She took 17 years and 150 days to make her debut in all formats.

Having made her T20I debut in 2019, Shafali played the only Test between the two sides earlier. Now, she is the fifth youngest ever to play in the three formats of the game.

Afghanistan’s Mujeeb-ur-Rahman at 17 years and 78 days is the youngest player to play all formats, followed by former England wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor. Australia’s Elysse Perry is third on the list, followed by Mohammad Amir.

2021 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

⇒ International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed every year on June 26.

Theme:

The theme of the 2021 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was ‘Share Facts On Drugs, Save Lives’.

This year’s theme was focused on combating misinformation and promoting the sharing the facts on drugs.

Significance:

The Day is observed worldwide to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a sustainable world free of substance abuse.

History:

The United Nations General Assembly on December 7, 1987, decided to mark June 26 as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
