Model Tenancy Act

⇒ The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Model Tenancy Act for circulation to all States / Union Territories for adaptation by way of enacting fresh legislation or amending existing rental laws suitably.

Aim:

The objective of the Model Tenancy Act is to create a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive rental housing market in the country.

Benefits:

It will enable creation of adequate rental housing stock in the country. With this, houses will be available on rent for people of every income group and the problem of homelessness will be solved.

Director General Naval Projects (DGNP), Visakhapatnam

⇒ Vice Admiral Sreekumar Nair, AVSM, NM, took over as the Director General Naval Projects (DGNP), Visakhapatnam. The Flag officer was commissioned as an Electrical Officer into the Indian Navy on 17 August 1987.

Chief of Personnel of Indian Navy

⇒ Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM, has assumed charge as Chief of Personnel of Indian Navy on 01 June 2021. The Flag Officer was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 July 1985.

US Visit of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar

⇒ External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited to US five-day during 24 May to 28 May, 2021. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is the first Indian Cabinet minister to visit the US after Joe Biden became President on January 20, 2021.

Jaishankar’s met with UN Secretary-General Guterres in New York during his five-day visit to the US. In meeting with UN chief, he discussed the ‘Covid challenge’, underlining the importance of finding urgent & effective global vaccine solutions.

During the visit, Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He also met with senior US administration officials. In the meeting, Jaishankar discussed important issues including vaccine cooperation, contemporary security challenges, support for efficient and robust supply chain, among others.

Agreement on “Cooperation in the field of Mass Media” between all the Member States of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation​

⇒ The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval for signing and ratification of an Agreement on “Cooperation in the field of Mass Media” between all the Member States of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The Agreement was signed in June, 2019.

Benefits:
    • The Agreement shall promote equal and mutually beneficial cooperation among associations in the field of Mass Media.
    • The Agreement would provide an opportunity for the Member States to share best practices and new innovations in the field of Mass Media.

Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) 2021

⇒ The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) 2021 was held virtually from May 20 to 27, 2021. IFFLA announced its Grand Jury winners and Audience Awards for the festival’s 19th edition on 27 May 2021.

High-Performance Coach Education Programme for Coaches

⇒ The Sports Authority of India (SAI) launched a High-Performance Coach Education Programme at the National Centre for Sports Coaching (NCSC), under the aegis of Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) Patiala.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju launched this Education Programme to build pool of elite Indian coaches.

About Course:

This course, which will run over a six-month duration will have 7 modules. At least 250 top coaches of Sports Authority of India from its various National Center of Excellence and training centres will form the core group of nurturing the best sports talent in the country as coaches. Each batch will have limited capacity of 20 students only.

Former Prime Minister and President of Mauritius, Sir Anerood Jugnauth

⇒ Former Prime Minister and President of Mauritius, Sir Anerood Jugnauth passed away on 03 June 2021. He was 91.
Sir Anerood Jugnauth, a tall leader & statesman, was the architect of modern Mauritius. He is also the country’s longest-serving prime minister.
A proud Pravasi Bharatiya, Sir Anerood Jugnauth was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan Award in 2020.

Pravind Jugnauth, Son of Sir Anerood Jugnauth, is the current Prime Minister of Mauritius.
