National:
  • On 30th October, 2020, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated dynamic lighting for the Sardar Sarovar Dam. He unveiled the website of Statue of Unity in all the UN official languages and launched the Kevadia App, at the Unity Glow Garden. He also inaugurated Cactus Garden.
    Unity Glow Garden is a unique theme park spread over an area of 3.61 acres. It has a glimmering array of installations, figures and optical illusions.
    Cactus Garden is a grand architectural greenhouse with 450 national and international species from 17 countries. It has around 6 lakh plants including 1.9 lakh cactus plants in an area spread over 25 acre.
Sardar Patel Zoological Park, Geodesic Aviary Dome & Ekta Cruise Service:
  • On 30th October, 2020, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Sardar Patel Zoological Park and Geodesic Aviary Dome in Kevadia. He also flagged off the ‘Ekta Cruise Service’ for the Statue of Unity.
    The zoological park has two aviaries: one for domestic birds and another for exotic birds. It is the world’s largest geodesic dome for aviary.
    Under Ekta Cruise Service, passengers can experience the viewing of Statue of Unity through the Ferry Boat Service from Shrestha Bharat Bhavan to Statue of Unity by covering a distance of 6 km.
Arogya Van & Arogya Kutir, Ekta Mall, and Children Nutrition Park & Mirror Maze:
  • On 30th October , 2020, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Arogya Van & Arogya Kutir, Ekta Mall, and Children Nutrition Park & Mirror Maze at Kevadia in Gujrat.
    Arogya Van has 5 lakh plants of 380 different species spread over an area of 17 acre. Arogya Kutir has a traditional treatment facility named Santhigiri wellness centre.
    The Ekta Mall displays a diverse range of handicrafts and traditional items from all over India symbolizing unity in diversity.
    Children Nutrition Park is world’s first ever technology driven nutrition park for children. It is spread over an area of 35000 sq ft. A Nutri Train runs across the park to various exciting theme based stations namely ‘Phalshaka Griham’, ‘Payonagari’, ‘Annapoorna’, ‘Poshan Puran’, and ‘Swastha Bharatam’. It will raise nutritional awareness through various edutainment activities like Mirror Maze, 5D Virtual reality theatre and Augmented reality games.
Ganga Utsav 2020
  • “Ganga Utsav 2020” was held virtually from 02 November to 04 November 2020. This festival is to celebrate the glory of National river Ganga.
    Diversity of events were organized in the Ganga Utsav such as, Mini Ganga Quest, Kahani Junction, Ganga Dialogues, screening of award-winning film etc.
Award:
  • Veteran movie director Hariharan on 03 november 2020 bagged the prestigious J C Daniel Award. He got the award for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam cinema. He will be honoured at the upcoming 2019 Kerala State Film Awards ceremony.
    J C Daniel Award is the Kerala government’s highest honour in Malayalam cinema. It is presented annually by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy under the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Kerala. Veteran actor Sheela bagged the award last year.
Business:
  • On 03 November, 2020, Walmart owned Flipkart announced that it has acquired the Intellectual Property (IP) of gaming startup Mech Mocha, for an undisclosed sum.
    Flipkart has acquired this to strengthen its gaming strategy. Mech Mocha is a mobile gaming startup company that operates ‘Hello Play’.
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved acquisition of General Insurance Business of Bharti AXA General Insurance Company Limited (Bharti AXA) by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited (ICICI Lombard), on Nov 2.
Sports:
  • ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings was released on 4 November 2020. India cricketer Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continued to the first and second position respectively in the list of batsmen of ICC ODI rankings. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah remained static at the second spot in the bowler’s list of ICC ODI ranking.
Death:
  • Freedom fighter H. Kempaiah died, on 06 November, 2020. He was 97. He is from Bagalur village.
