LOGISEM VAYU-2022

⇒ Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Vivek Chaudhari inaugurated the logistics seminar LOGISEM VAYU-2022 on 28 April 2022 in New Delhi.

During the seminar, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari delivered the inaugural address which included the roadmap for logistics management in Indian Air Force.

A national level Logistics seminar was organised by Indian Air Force (IAF) at Air Force Auditorium, New Delhi.

Theme:

The theme of the seminar was ‘Orchestrating Logistics Support for Air Combat Operations’.

Discussion:
    • Prominent subject matter experts from the Government, Industry and think-tanks delved upon aspects pertaining to National Logistics Policy and absorption of current disruptive technologies such as AI, ML, Blockchain and loT.
    • The seminar had a session on logistics diplomacy, by entering into International Logistics Support Agreements with key allies.

» A document on logistics philosophy of IAF titled ‘Tenets of Logistics’ and a book on history of Logistics in IAF titled ‘Footprints in Sands of Time’ were released during the seminar.

India creates world record by waving 78,220 tricolors simultaneously

⇒ In the presence of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, India has created the record in waving the National Flag at the same time.

    • Together with thousands of people gathered, they raised the tricolor for five minutes and sang the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.

» On 23 April 2022, India entered the Guinness Book of World Records by waving 78,220 tricolor flags simultaneously at the “Veer Kunwar Singh Vijayotsav” programme at Duler Ground in Jagdishpur, Bhojpur, Bihar.

    • The occasion was a tribute to the glorious victory of the then King of Jagdishpur, Veer Kunwar Singh, who is considered one of the ‘heroes’ of the freedom struggle of 1857.
    • The event was organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Culture under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.
About Babu Veer Kunwar Singh:
    • Babu Veer Kunwar Singh emerged as a prominent leader of the Indian freedom struggle of 1857, who even at the age of about 80, fought bravely against the British colonial rule.
    • He belonged to the Ujjayini dynasty of the Parmar Rajputs of Jagdishpur, a part of present-day Bhojpur district, Bihar, India.

ICICI Bank unveils Digital Ecosystem

⇒ ICICI Bank has launched a digital service for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that customers of other banks can use as well.

    • The “digital ecosystem” offers enhanced banking services, banking services to MSMEs who are customers of other banks, and a range of value-added services for all.
According to a statement by the bank, anyone can avail of the benefits of digital solutions by downloading the new version of the InstaBIZ app.
    • MSMEs, who are customers of other banks, can avail of a host of services by logging in as a ‘Guest’ in the app.
    • One of the services it provides is sanction of instant and paperless overdraft facility up to Rs 25 lakh through ‘InstaOD Plus’, which enables customers of any bank to avail of an overdraft instantly.

India’s first bridgital autism support network

⇒ The Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) has partnered with the Center for Autism and other Disabilities Rehabilitation Research and Education (CADRRE) to launch ‘Pay Autention – A different mind is a gifted mind’, India’s first bridgital autism support network.

    • The autism support network will create awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and help people understand, accept and support individuals with autism and their parents and caregivers.
Highlights:
    • The initiative shall pave the way for small towns and rural India to access specialised care and support and help create an auxiliary network of champions for the differently abled.
    • This platform shall also enable mentoring, skilling and meaningful livelihoods for people with autism.
    • In the first phase, the initiative will primarily focus on supporting children with autism, and subsequently, in the second stage, it will focus on young adults, empowering them with life skills and career readiness.
    • In addition to this, a toll-free autism support helpline is also launched at 1800 2099 488 to provide interactive support and much-needed professional aid for families in need.

National Panchayat Awards 2022

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, transferred prize money of Rs 44.70 crore to the winning Panchayats of National Panchayat Awards 2022 given in various categories on National Panchayati Raj Day for their achievements.

    • Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has become the first coach to win all five major European leagues.

Asian Wrestling Championships 2022

⇒ Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from 19 April to 24 April, 2022. It was the 35th edition of the Asian Wrestling Championships.

    • Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya clinched his third straight Asian Championship gold medal with a dominating performance in the Men’s freestyle 57kg category.

Death

Veteran actor Salim Ghouse

⇒ Veteran actor Salim Ghouse passed away on 28 April 2022 in Mumbai. He was 70.

Ghouse was known for his performances in TV shows like “Bharat Ek Khoj” as well as films such as “Sardari Begum” and “Soldier”. Ghouse made his feature film debut in an unnamed role of a student in 1978’s “Swarg Narak”.

In the 1990s and 2000s, he played supporting parts in Hindi films such as “Koyla”, “Soldier, “Badal”, and “Aks”.
