National

Mission- Aahaar Kranti

  • Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology, Earth Sciences launched a new mission called Aahaar Kranti on 13 April 2021.
AIM:

The mission is aimed to spread the message of the need for a nutritionally balanced diet and to understand the importance of accessible to all local fruits and vegetables.

Started by:

Vijnana Bharati (Vibha) and Global Indian Scientists’ and Technocrats’ Forum (GIST) have started this mission together.

MOTTO:

The motto of this mission is: ‘उत्तम आहार-उत्तम विचार’ (Uttam Aahaar -Uttam Vichaar) or, ‘Good Diet-Good Cognition’.

The “Aahaar Kranti” movement is designed to address the peculiar problem being faced by India and the world, called ‘hunger and diseases in abundance’.

International Year of Fruits and Vegetables:

The United Nations has also declared 2021 as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, which vibes very well with Aahaar Kranti.

India Energy Dashboards Version 2.0

  • The India Energy Dashboards Version 2.0 was launched by NITI Aayog. India Energy Dashboards (IED) is an endeavour to provide single-window access to the energy data for the country. 

Energy data published/provided by Central Electricity Authority, Coal Controller’s Organisation, and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is compiled in the Dashboards. 

NITI Aayog had launched the Version 1.0 in May 2017.

Award Ceremony organized by the "Agriculture Today Group"

  • Agriculture Today, a National Agriculture Magazine awarded to a team of scientists from Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). They have been awarded for Excellence in Dissemination of agricultural practices and technologies from Lab to Farm.

Dr M Raghuvanshi, Principal Scientist who is presently posted in ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, received the Award during the Award Ceremony for ‘Agriculture Extension 2021’.

The award ceremony was virtually organized by the ‘Agriculture Today Group’.

DGFT 'Trade Facilitation' Mobile App

  • Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal on 12 April 2021 launched DGFT ‘Trade Facilitation’ Mobile App during the online video conference. It has been developed by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), as per the directions of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
Aim:

The App has been launched for promoting ease of doing business and providing quick access to information to importers/exporters.

Union Minister said, Trade facilitation App is READY for Industry 4.0, as it provides:
    • Real-time trade policy updates, notifications, application status alert, tracking help requests
    • Explore item-wise Export-Import policy & statistics, Track IEC Portfolio
    • AI- based 24*7 assistance for trade queries
    • DGFT services made accessible to all
    • Your Trade Dashboard accessible anytime & anywhere

Acquisition of Magma Fincorp Limited by Rising Sun Holdings Private Limited and Mr Sanjay Chamria and Mr Mayank Poddar

  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition of shareholding in Magma Fincorp Limited by Rising Sun Holdings Private Limited and Mr Sanjay Chamria and Mr Mayank Poddar.

Rising Sun is part of Mr Adar Poonawalla’s Rising Sun group of companies. Magma Fincorp is a systemically important non-deposit taking NBFC.

International

Agreement between Space agencies of India and France

  • Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru as part of his three-day official visit to India, which started on 13 April 2021.
Agreement:

During the visit, Space agencies of India and France on 15 April 2021 signed an agreement for cooperation for the former’s first human space mission, Gaganyaan, a move that will enable Indian flight physicians to train at French facilities.

Under the terms of the agreement, CNES will train India’s flight physicians and CAPCOM mission control teams in France at the CADMOS centre for the development of microgravity applications and space operations at CNES in Toulouse and at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne, Germany.

French equipment developed by CNES, tested and still operating aboard the International Space Station, will be made available to Indian crews.

Death

Veteran Gandhian, Sadashiv Rao Bhosle

  • Freedom fighter, former MLA, veteran Gandhian, Sadashiv Rao Bhosle passed away on 15 April 2021 in Belagavi. He was 101. He was close associate of Vinoba Bhave.

Indian Football Olympian, Ahmed Hussain

  • Indian Football Olympian, Ahmed Hussain died on 16 April 2021. He was 89.

He was a member of the India team, which finished fourth at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He was also part of the Indian team in 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, where India finished fourth.
