AICTE Lilavati Awards 2020
- Union Minister of Education Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ presented the AICTE Lilavati Awards 2020 on women empowerment to the winners in New Delhi on 11 April 2021.
The Lilawati Awards has been instituted by AICTE.
Based on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’, AICTE finalized the winners from a total of 456 entries, who competed across 6 sub themes. The 6 sub themes included Women’s Health, Self-Defense, Sanitation and Hygiene, Literacy, Women Entrepreneurship, and Legal Awareness.

NITI Aayog Launched Online Dispute Resolution Handbook
- Supreme Court Justice DY Chandrachud addressed the releasing event of a handbook on Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) on 10 April 2021.
NITI Aayog—in association with Agami and Omidyar Network India and with the support of ICICI Bank, Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Trilegal, Dalberg, Dvara, NIPFP—launched the first-of-its kind Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) handbook in India.
Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) has the potential to decentralize, diversify, democratize, and disentangle the justice delivery mechanism.
ODR is the resolution of disputes outside courts, particularly of small and medium-value cases, using digital technology and techniques of alternate dispute resolution (ADR), such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.
Khelo India State Centre of Excellence for Rowing discipline at the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council Water Sports Academy
- Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju inaugurated Khelo India State Centre of Excellence for Rowing discipline at the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council Water Sports Academy in Srinagar on 10th April 2021.
There are currently 24 KISCEs across 23 States and Union Territories and each of them focuses on Olympics sports discipline.

Acquisition of Nuance by Microsoft
- Microsoft has announced, it’s acquiring artificial intelligence and cloud computing company Nuance for $19.7 billion (roughly Rs. 1,47,900 crores). This is to bolstering its healthcare presence with a leader in voice recognition technology.
Nuance is best known for its Dragon software. It uses deep learning to transcribe speech and improves its accuracy over time by adapting to a user’s voice.
This acquisition of Nuance is Microsoft’s second-largest behind its purchase of LinkedIn in 2016 for $26 billion.
Acquisition of Cleartrip by Flipkart
- Flipkart on 15 April 2021 said it will wholly acquire online travel aggregator Cleartrip. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed but Cleartrip worth is about $40 million.

World Table Tennis Championships in 2021
- The ITTF governing body announced that, the World Table Tennis Championships will be held as per schedule from November 23 to 29, 2021 in Houston, USA. The ITTF executive committee has decided this in a meeting on April 11, 2021.

National Fire Service Day 2021
- The National Fire Service Day was observed on 14th April 2021 every year. This day is observed to pay homage to the incredible commitment and sacrifice by the 71 Fire Service personnel during an unfortunate mishap in 1944.
