Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards 2023
⇒ The Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar presented the one-time Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 16 September 2023.
- The Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards were conferred to 84 artists from the field of performing arts of India who are above the age of 75 years and haven’t been accorded any national honour in their career so far.

About Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards:
- Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards is a national honour bestowed on performing artists as well as teachers and scholars in the field of performing arts.
- The recipients were selected by the Akademi’s General Council, consisting of distinguished musicians, dancers, theatre artists and scholars in these disciplines and nominees of the Government of India, States Governments, and Union Territories.
- The honour carries a purse money of Rs 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh) besides a Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
DoPPW gets the First Prestigious Raj Bhasha Kirti Puraskar, 2022-23
⇒ Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) under the leadership of Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions has been conferred the prestigious First Raj Bhasha Kirti Puraskar, 2022-23.
- DoPPW has been conferred in the category of Ministries/Departments with less than 300 employees.
» The award was presented by Shri Ajay Kumar Mishra, Minister of State to Shri Sanjiv Narain Mathur, Additional Secretary (Pension). Shri Sanjiv Narain Mathur received the same on behalf of DoPPW in the ceremony of Akhil Bhartiya Raj Bhasha Sammelan and Hindi Diwas Ceremony at Pune on 14 September 2023.
» This is the second consecutive year wherein Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare headed by Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary (P&PW), has received the honor of being the best performing Department in the category of Ministries/ Departments with less than 300 employees.

- The Raj Bhasha Kirti Puraskar is a prestigious award conferred every year on a department which stands first among all the Ministries/Departments with less than 300 employees during the Akhil Bhartiya Raj Bhasha Sammelan and Hindi Diwas celebrations.
- Akhil Bhartiya Raj Bhasha Sammelan and Hindi Diwas celebrations are organized by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan
⇒ Union Minister Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala launched a unique program, Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan on 15 September 2023 in Indore.
- Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan was launched on the occasion of completion of three successful years of implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matasya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY).
- The progam organised by Department of Fisheries, Government of India at Brilliant Convention Center, Indore.
Key Points:
- The Jagrukta Abhiyan for enhancing outreach across India and ensuring ‘last mile connectivity’ will run for 6 months from Sep 2023 to Feb 2024, during which 108 events are being organised.
- The main objectives of the Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan are dissemination of information and knowledge about 9 Years of achievements of the GoI, highlighting success stories of the beneficiaries and reaching out to 2.8 crore fish farmer and 3477 coastal villages.
During the event, various key projects that are newly taking ground across India were launched by the Union Minister.
- This bouquet of 239 projects approved under PMMSY were from 15 states with a total investment of Rs 103.11 crore. These 15 states are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
- The beneficiaries have engaged in various activities such as trout culture, pearl culture, cage culture, cold storage, bioflocs & RAS etc.
Background:
- India’s fisheries sector is on a trajectory of progress through multidimensional interventions meticulously rolled out under the leadership of the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
- Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is the flagship scheme of the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India and was launched on 10th September 2020 by the Prime Minister.
- The aim is to give momentum to the ‘sunrise’ fisheries sector through consolidated efforts from various schemes and initiatives.

- This publication is supported by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The author and editor of “Chal Mann Vrindavan” is Dr. Ashok Bansal.
“Chal Mann Vrindavan” offers a glimpse into the rich heritage of the globally renowned temple-town of Vrindavan. The book celebrates the pivotal figures and historical events that have shaped the region’s identity today.

⇒ The 2023 Asia Cup Final was played on 17 September 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
- The 2023 Asia Cup was a One Day International cricket tournament.
- The 2023 Asia Cup was the 16th edition of the men’s Asia Cup cricket tournament.
- It was held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, between 30 August to 17 September 2023.
Winner:
India beat cohosts Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to win the 2023 Asia Cup at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. By winning this, India won the eighth title of Asia Cup.
India’s title wins at the Asia Cup have come in 1984, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018. It is also the highest by any team in the tournament’s history.
