National Single Window System for Investors and Businesses

⇒ Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Textiles, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Shri Piyush Goyal launched the National Single Window System for Investors and Businesses.

NSWS has been designed keeping the needs of entrepreneurs and investors at the center.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Goyal said:

» Launch of National Single Window System, is a giant leap, towards making India Aatmanirbhar.

» This single window portal will become a one-stop-shop for investors for approvals & clearances.

» The portal hosts approvals across 18 Central Departments & 9 States, another 14 Central depts & 5 states will be added by December 2021.

» NSWS will usher in Azadi from legacy of running to Govt offices for approvals and registrations.

» NSWS to have solutions for all at one click of the mouse through ‘End to End’ facilitation.

» NSWS to bring Transparency, Accountability & Responsiveness in the ecosystem and all information will be available on a single dashboard.

» Foreign & Indian Investors, Businesses and Start-ups to benefit from the initiative.

'Jammu Haat’, a hub of export promotion at Exhibition Ground, Jammu

⇒ Union Minister of State (I/C) Science & Technology; Minister of State (I/C) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated ‘Jammu Haat’, a hub of export promotion at Exhibition Ground, Jammu on 22 September 2021.

‘Jammu Haat’ was inaugurated on the occasion of ‘Vanijya Saptah’, a platform for entrepreneurs, buyers, sellers and exporters.

Addressing the participants during the inauguration, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that more than 50 thousand crore investment is expected in J&K now which will change the dynamics of development in the UT in the coming years.

Bio-Energy Summit 2021 ‘Farm-2-Fuel: Sustainable Bioenergy Solutions for Aatmanirbhar Bharat’

⇒ The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari addressed the Bio-Energy Summit 2021 ‘Farm-2-Fuel: Sustainable Bioenergy Solutions for Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ on 22 September 2021.

Addressing the Summit, Union Minister said:

» India’s fuel energy security can be well supported by Agriculture as It provides opportunities for concepts such as waste to wealth and waste to energy and ultimately leading to the benefit of all.

» The Minister said that these targets will be achieved through a five-phased strategy:

    1. Adopting biofuels and renewables
    2. Implementing energy efficiency norms
    3. Improving refinery processes
    4. Increasing domestic production
    5. Achieving demand substitution

» The Minister also said the following announcements gives an indication the importance that government gives to biofuels and alternative source of energy.

    • On advancing of the target year for 20 Percent ethanol-blending by five years to 2025
    • 5% blending of biodiesel in a diesel by 2030
    • Directing Oil companies to sell 20 percent ethanol-blended petrol from April 1, 2023
    • BIS specifications for higher ethanol blends – E12 and E15

Solar DC Cooking System

⇒ Prof. Harish Hirani, Director, CSIR-CMERI, handed over the CSIR-CMERI developed Solar DC Cooking System to the Asansol Braille Academy, West Bengal on 22 September 2021.

The CSIR-CMERI developed Solar DC Cooking Technology was transferred to two business entities namely M/s Asansol Solar & LED House, WB and M/s Meeco Solar & Infrastructure Associates, Durgapur, WB.

About Solar DC Cooking System:

The CSIR-CMERI developed Solar DC Cooking System is a Solar Energy based Cooking System which consists of solar PV panel, charge controller, battery bank and cooking oven.

The technology provides a Clean Cooking Environment, Invertor-Less Direct Operation, Fast and Uniform Heating and a potential to save 1 ton Carbon Dioxide emissions year/household.

First Himalayan Film Festival

⇒ The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Thakur inaugurated the star-studded five days ‘First Himalayan Film Festival’ at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra, Leh, Union Territory of Ladakh on 24 September 2021.

The five days festival was held at Leh, Ladakh from 24th to 28th September 2021.

Launch of negotiations on the India- United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (UAE CEPA)

⇒ Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution and Textiles and Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Trade, have formally launched negotiations on the India- UAE CEPA.

The first round of CEPA negotiations was held on 23-24 September 2021.

Both Ministers emphasized that CEPA will create new jobs, raise living standards, and provide wider social and economic opportunities in both nations.

REC Limited and J-PAL South Asia enter Data-sharing Agreement

⇒ REC Limited, a public infrastructure finance company under the Ministry of Power and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab South Asia have partnered to create an annual, data-based assessment of 79 public and private power distribution companies (DISCOMS) across the country.

Aim:

The agreement aims to improve consumer service delivery and ensure reliable electricity supply to consumers.

Under this partnership, REC and J-PAL South Asia will collaborate to leverage existing data on DISCOMS’ services to diagnose trends and identify gaps in the quality of power supply.
