Purvanchal Expressway at Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur

⇒ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Purvanchal Expressway at Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur district, UP on 16 November 2021.

    • The Prime Minister also witnessed an Airshow by the Indian Air Force on the 3.2 km long airstrip constructed on the Expressway in Sultanpur district to enable landing/take-off of Indian Air Force fighter planes in case of emergency.
About Purvanchal Expressway:
    • The Purvanchal Expressway is 341 Km long.
    • It starts from village Chaudsarai, district Lucknow located on Lucknow-Sultanpur Road (NH-731) and ends at village Hydaria located on National Highway No 31, 18 km east of UP-Bihar border.
    • The expressway is 6-lane wide which can be expanded to 8-lane in future.
    • The expressway has been constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs 22500 crore.
    • The Purvanchal Expressway is going to give a boost to the economic development of eastern part of Uttar Pradesh especially the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.

Tech NEEV/ नींव @75

⇒ Union Minister of State (I/C) Science & Technology; Minister of State (I/C) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated “Tech NEEV/ नींव @75” as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 15 November 2021.

» Dr Jitendra Singh informed that the Government will be setting up 30 Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Hubs in different parts of the country for Scheduled Tribes by end of 2022 to promote scientific talent among tribal communities and for their overall socio-economic development.

    • Out of 75 proposed STI Hubs for SCs/STs, 20 have already been established by Department of Science and Technology which will directly benefit 20,000 people through various interventions spreading across farm, non-farm and other allied livelihood sectors.

» Dr Jitendra Singh also reiterated India’s rising trajectory in the Global Innovation Index; as India has improved its ranking from 81 in 2015 to 46 in 2021.

33rd edition of “Hunar Haat”

⇒ Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi inaugurated the 33rd edition of “Hunar Haat” at India International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi on 15 November 2021.

This was the 33rd “Hunar Haat” in the series of on-going “Hunar Haats” across the country. More than 550 artisans and craftsmen from more than 30 States/UTs participated in the “Hunar Haat”, organized at Pragati Maidan from 14th to 27th November 2021.

BRO receives the Guinness World Records certificate

⇒ Director General Border Roads Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry received the Guinness World Records certificate on November 16, 2021 for the achievement of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of constructing and black topping the world’s highest motorable road at 19,024 feet at Umlingla Pass in Ladakh.

About Umlingla Pass Road:
    • The 52-kilometre long Chisumle to Demchok tarmac road passes through the 19,024 feet high Umlingla Pass.
    • This is better than the previous record of a road in Bolivia, which connects volcano Uturuncu at 18,953 feet.
    • The Umlingla Pass Road has been constructed at an altitude higher than the North and South Base Camps of Mount Everest which are at an altitude of 16,900 feet and 17,598 feet respectively.

MP CUP POLO CHAMPIONSHIP - SIR PRATAP SINGH CUP 2021

⇒ The Ministry of Culture organized the final match of the MP CUP POLO CHAMPIONSHIP – SIR PRATAP SINGH CUP 2021, under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs, Smt Meenakashi Lekhi launched the final 14 GOAL match at the iconic Jaipur Polo Grounds on November 14, 2021 by throwing the first ball.

The event was organized under the auspices of Indian Polo Association and supported by Just in Time Sports Foundation.

Final match:
    • The match was played between the teams Sona Polo and Vimal Arion Achievers.
    • Vimal Arion Achievers won the match by 11-8.
    • Mr Juan Cruz Losada won the man of the match award for his exceptional performance.
About:
    • Sir Pratap Singh Cup is one of India’s most historic and premier tournaments, which was instituted in 1921.
    • It completed exact 100 years with the completion of this event.
    • The fulcrum of polo in India was established in 1892 as the Indian Polo Association (IPA).
    • Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh of Jodhpur presented this cup, in 1921in commemoration of the visit of HRH The Duke of Connaught to India. It is a 14 Goal trophy. It was first played for in Delhi in 1921 and won by the Patiala Team.
