IndiaSkills 2021 Regional Competition - East

⇒ Governor of Bihar, Shri Phagu Chauhan felicitated the winners of IndiaSkills 2021 Regional Competition – East at Bapu Sabhaghar, Patna.

98 candidates from 8 States/Union territory were declared winners of IndiaSkills Regional Competition – East. A total of 50 candidates won gold medals, while 48 received silver medals.

Prize:

The Governor awarded each of them a cash prize of Rs 21,000 along with a gold medal. The first runners up were given Rs 11,000 and a silver medal.

    • Odisha ranked first in both gold and silver medal tally of the Regional Competition.
Participants:

Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Odisha, Tripura, and West Bengal participated in the Eastern competition.

More than 240 candidates competed in 42 skills from 20 to 23 October.

    • Skills include cooking, restaurant service, confectionery/pastry cook, beauty therapy, hairdressing, mechanical engineering design (CAD), web design, electronics, IT software solutions, graphic design technology, mobile robotics, among others.

The next Regional Competition was held in Gandhinagar (West) followed by Chandigarh (North), and Visakhapatnam (South), in October, November and December 2021.

The winners of the Regionals will compete at the National Competition. The IndiaSkills National Competition will be conducted in January 2022 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Winners of the IndiaSkills National Competition will undergo training to represent India at WorldSkills Shanghai in October 2022.

About IndiaSkills:

IndiaSkills Competition is organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), an apex skill development organisation working under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission

⇒ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission on 25 October 2021 in Varanasi. He also inaugurated various development projects worth around Rs 5200 crore for Varanasi.

PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission is one of the largest pan-India scheme for strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country.

Objective:

The objective of PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission is to fill critical gaps in public health infrastructure, especially in critical care facilities and primary care in both the urban and rural areas.

Key Points:

» It will provide support for 17,788 rural Health and Wellness Centres in 10 High Focus States. Further, 11,024 urban Health and Wellness Centres will be established in all the States.

» Various Institutes and Centres will be set up under PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. These are:

    • A National Institution for One Health
    • 4 New National Institutes for Virology
    • A Regional Research Platform for WHO South East Asia Region
    • 9 Biosafety Level III laboratories
    • 5 New Regional National Centre for Disease Control

» PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission targets to build an IT enabled disease surveillance system by developing a network of surveillance laboratories at block, district, regional and national levels, in Metropolitan areas.

100th book of the Vanguri Foundation of America

⇒ The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu released the 100th book of the Vanguri Foundation of America.

The book titled as ‘7va Prapancha Sahiti Sadassu Sabha Vishesha Sanchika’ is based on the 7th World Telugu Literary Summit organised by the Vanguri Foundation of America in collaboration with other Telugu cultural organisations in October last year.

Exercise AJEYA WARRIOR

⇒ The 6th edition of India-UK Joint Company Level Military Training Exercise AJEYA WARRIOR has commenced at Chaubatia, Uttarakhand and culminate on 20 October 2021.

The exercise was part of an initiative to develop inter-operability and sharing expertise with friendly foreign nations.

During this exercise, an Infantry Company from Indian Army and an equivalent strength from UK Army shared their experiences gained during the conduct of various military operations in their respective countries and during overseas engagements.

New President of Uzbekistan

⇒ The incumbent President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been re-elected for a second five-year term. He is a member of the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party (UzLiDeP).

He sworn in as President of Uzbekistan on 06 November 2021 at a joint meeting of both chambers of the country’s parliament.

Google's Carbon Footprint

⇒ Google Cloud has unveiled the Carbon Footprint tracker.

Carbon Footprint, a new product that provides customers with the gross carbon emissions associated with their Google Cloud Platform usage.

This tool helps to measure, track and report on the gross carbon emissions associated with the electricity of cloud usage.
