NANDI (NOC Approval for New Drug and Inoculation System) Portal launched
⇒ Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala launched Nandi – NOC Approval for New Drug and Inoculation System portal on 26 June 2023 at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.
With this portal, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) will facilitate the regulatory approval process with transparency to assess and examine veterinary product proposals will be more streamlined through seamless integration with the SUGAM portal of Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.
Key Points:
- DAHD has been working towards improving the regulatory process through setting up empowered committees such as Empowered Committee for Animal Health (ECAH), chaired by PSA (GoI). It is working towards creating resilient, farmer-centric animal health systems in India and bringing forth changes to ensure the long-term success of India’s livestock sector.
- Under ECAH, Regulatory Subcommittee, consisting of various veterinary experts from industry and academia, has been set up with the goal to comprehensively deliberate, efficiently take action, and provide recommendation/policy inputs on submissions of veterinary vaccine/biologicals/drugs in the Department for its opinion.
- In order to expedite regulatory process for approval of animal drugs and vaccines NANDI (NOC Approval for New Drug and Inoculation System) the department has developed NANDI portal through CDAC in coordination with Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).
- NANDI will bring about growth and innovation by enabling quick and easy coordination between various Government Departments, Institutes, and Industry through a seamless interconnected system designed to expedite and strengthen the regulatory process.
- The portal has inbuilt features for end-to-end coordination between Departments, Committees/Subcommittee and Applicants.

PM Modi Conferred With 'Order of The Nile' Award, Egypt's Highest State Honour
⇒ In a special ceremony at the Presidency in Cairo on 25 June 2023, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, conferred Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with the ‘Order of the Nile’, the highest civilian award of Egypt.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is the first Indian to receive this award.
- This is the 13th such highest state honour bestowed upon PM Modi by various countries around the world.
About the Award:
- The ‘Order of the Nile’ is a civil decoration of Egypt that was established in 1915 by Sultan Hussein Kamel.
- It is awarded to both Egyptians and foreigners for distinguished service to Egypt, either in the military or in the civilian sector.
INS SUNAYNA VISITS MOMBASA
⇒ INS Sunayna visited Mombasa, Kenya from 20-23 June 2023 towards strengthening bilateral ties with maritime neighbours on the theme of Ocean Ring of Yoga.
» On the occasion of International Day of Yoga on 21 June, a joint Yoga session was conducted onboard with the participation of Indian Navy personnel and Kenyan Defence Forces.
Maritime Partnership Exercise:
» A Maritime Partnership Exercise was conducted between the two navies.
- The crew of both Indian and Kenya Navy conducted drills in Firefighting & Damage Control, boarding exercises, asymmetric threat simulations and VBSS during the harbour phase. A HADR capsule was also conducted onboard for the Kenya Navy.
Passage Exercise:
» On departure from Mombasa, INS Sunayna undertook Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Kenya Naval Ship Jasiri on 23 June 2023.
- The visit to Mombasa reaffirms the strong and longstanding relationship between India & Kenya and will further consolidate bilateral cooperation in the maritime domain.

- Olympic Day, established in 1948, is a global celebration of sport and getting active. The first ever Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948.
- Olympic Day commemorates the day the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was founded in 1894 – the birth of the modern Olympic Games.
- The International Olympic Committee was founded at the Sorbonne in Paris, where Pierre de Coubertin rallied the revival of the Ancient Olympic Games on 23 June 1894.
