66th Wildlife Week 2020

66th Wildlife Week Celebration held from 2nd to 8th October, 2020. Theme of the Wildlife Week was “RoaR (Roar and Revive) – Exploring Human-Animal Relationships”. The campaign aims at providing a platform to celebrate the special place of wild plants and animals in their many varied and beautiful forms.
On the occasion of “Wildlife Week 2020” Goa Postal Division released a picture Postcards on Avian Diversity of Goa (Series-II) Endemic Birds of Goa.
To Mark the celebration of Wildlife Week 2020, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Prakash Javadekar said, the government is working towards the up gradation and development of 160 Zoos in Public Private Partnership (PPP) across the country. This aims to encourage interaction between wildlife and humans, and help people observe and understand wildlife behaviour more closely.
He also launched a report of the CZA-TERI titled “Economic valuation of ecosystem services, National Zoological Park, New Delhi “. The report highlights the importance of habitats such as zoos to human wellbeing and the need of replication across India.

The union minister also presented the CZA-Prani Mitra awards to zoo officials & staff.
