  • The Indian Express journalist Dipankar Ghose won Prem Bhatia award for the category of reporting on political issues. He got an award for his coverage of the migrant labour crisis and other Covid-19 related issues.

    People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), a journalism website dedicated to reporting on rural India won Prem Bhatia Award for reporting on environmental and development issues.

  • Ahmedabad police commissioner Ashish Bhatia appointed as DGP of Gujarat after retirement of Shivanand Jha. He is a 1985 batch Indian Police Service officer.

  • Alan Parker, Versatile Filmmaker/Director died in South London. He was 76.

  • Jaypee Infratech’s chief financial officer (CFO) Pramod Kumar Aggarwal has resigned.

  • Manjula Padmanabhan’s drama appear in two volumes, the first one “Blood and Laughter” subtitled “Plays” and its companion “Laughter and Blood” subtitled  “Performance Pieces”. Some of these are being published for the first time.

  • Air Marshal IP Vipin becomes the new Commandant of Air Force Academy on 1 august 2020. He took over from Air Marshal J Chalapati. Air Marshal IP Vipin was commissioned in the Flying Branch of Indian Air Force in June 1982.

  • Jersey, Kaithi, Super 30 and Trance are among the Indian feature films that will be screened at the IIFFT 2020, Canada.
