Death:
- Sonam Tshering Lepcha died at Bongbusty in Kalimpong on 31 July. He was 92. He had been awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to folk music. He is also known as Rong Lopon (Lepcha Master). Sonam is credited with over 400 folk songs, 102 folk dances and 10 dance dramas, imbued with the spirit of the Lepcha life and beliefs.
- Senior socialist leader Alungal Devassy died on 31 July 2020. He was 82.
- Former speaker of Goa Assembly and BJP leader Anant Shet died on 2 August 2020. He was 59.
