- IPS Ranvir Singh Krishnia took charge as the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Union Territory Puducherry on 11 January 2021. Mr Krishnia is IPS officer of AGMUT cadre, from 1989 batch.

- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition of 100% shareholding of the Columbia Asia Hospitals Private Limited by Manipal Health Enterprises Private Limited.

15th Virtual Buyer Seller Meet with Bhutan:
- In a bid to boost exports potential of India’s agricultural and processed food products exports to neighboring SAARC country, APEDA organized a 15th Virtual Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) in association with Indian Embassy in Bhutan on 07 January 2021.
The meet brought together key stakeholders from the respective Governments and trade on a common platform for strengthening strategic cooperation between India and Bhutan in Agri Food Sector.

Death:
- Indian-American novelist, Ved Mehta has died in Manhattan on 09 January 2021. He was 86.
He had been a staff writer for 33 years in The New Yorker magazine. He was widely known as the 20th-century writer most responsible for introducing American readers to India.
He wrote many books such as “Walking the Indian Streets” (1960), “Portrait of India” (1970) and “Mahatma Gandhi and His Apostles” (1977).
