National:

Aadi Mahotsav:

  • The Vice President of India Shri M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated “Aadi Mahotsav” on 1st February, 2021 at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi.

The “Aadi Mahotsav” National Tribal Festival was organized by TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, from February 1 to 15 February, 2021.

The Aadi Mahotsav – A Celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Culture, Crafts, Cuisine and Commerce – is a successful annual initiative that was commenced in 2017.

Best Marching Contingent During Republic Day Parade:

  • During the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath on 26 January 2021, Jat Regimental Centre Marching Contingent has been adjudged as the best marching contingent among the three services. Also, Delhi Police Marching Contingent has been chosen as the best marching contingent among Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and other auxiliary forces.

Acquisition of Indo Gulf Fertilisers:

  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved acquisition of Indo Gulf Fertilisers by Indorama India Private Limited (IIPL) on 29 January 2021.

Command Medical Officer at Western Naval Command:

  • Surgeon Rear Admiral Sheila S Mathai took over as the Command Medical Officer, Headquarters Western Naval Command.

Surgeon Rear Admiral Arti Sarin assumed command of INHS Asvini, the flagship Hospital of the Indian Navy on 30 January 2021.

45th Raising Day Of Indian Coast Guard:

  • Indian Coast Guard celebrated its 45th Raising Day on 01 February 2021.

As the fourth largest Coast Guard in the world, Indian Coast Guard has played a significant role in securing the Indian Coasts.

International:

Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project in Nepal:

  • Government of Nepal has allotted 679 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project in Nepal to SJVN through competitive bidding. The Investment Board of Nepal has awarded the Project to SJVN on 29 January 2021.

The Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project is located in Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur Districts of Nepal.

On completion 679 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project will generate 3561 million units of electricity per annum.

25th IFFK's Lifetime Achievement Award- 2020

  • Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the 25th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on 10 February 2021. It is being held at four different places Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thalassery & Palakkad during 10 February to 5 March.

Veteran French film maker Jean-Luc Godard has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement award- 2020 for his contributions to the ‘New Wave’ film movement.
