AYUSH 64, Poly herbal formulation for COVID-19 Infection
⇒ AYUSH 64, a poly herbal formulation developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush is useful in the treatment of asymptomatic, mild and moderate COVID-19 infection.
The Ministry of Ayush-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) collaboration has completed a robust multi-centre clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AYUSH 64 in the management of mild to moderate COVID-19 patients.
AYUSH 64 comprises:
- Alstonia scholaris (aqueous bark extract)
- Picrorhiza kurroa (aqueous rhizome extract)
- Swertia chirata (aqueous extract of whole plant)
- Caesalpinia crista (fine-powdered seed pulp)
- Initially, it was developed for Malaria in the year 1980 and now is repurposed for COVID-19.
Assam presented their Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Annual Action Plan
⇒ The State of Assam presented their Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Annual Action Plan on 29 April 2021 with details of the plan for the financial year 2021-22. The state also presented the saturation plan for the whole State to provide tap water connection to every rural household. The State plans to achieve total saturation by the year 2024.
Achievement:
Assam has 63.35 lakh rural households, out of which 6.67 lakh (10.75%) are getting tap water supply. In 2020-2021, the State provided 4.76 lakh tap connections in rural areas.
Plan for 2021-22:
Assam plans to provide 20.63 lakh household tap water connections and saturation of 2 districts in 2021-22. In 2021-22, the State would get about Rs 3,000 Central funds under Jal Jeevan Mission.
29th Yudhvir Memorial Award
⇒ The Vice President, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu was participated virtually in the 29th Yudhvir Memorial Award ceremony on 30 April 2021.
During the Program, Vice President presented the Yudhvir Memorial Award to Hyderabad-based gynecologist, Dr Evita Fernandez in recognition of her service for the cause of women’s healthcare and empowerment. Yudhvir Memorial Award was instituted in the name of Shri Yudhvirji.
Chairman of Yudhvir Foundation, Murlidhar Gupta, Dr Evita Fernandez, Chairperson of Fernandez Foundation & others also participated virtually in the event.
The Vice President also paid rich tributes to late Shri Yudhvirji.
ABOUT:
Late Shri Yudhvirji was a freedom fighter, social worker and a reputed journalist. He launched Milap Daily first in Urdu and later in the Hindi language in 1950.
First-ever Electric Tractor
⇒ Central Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute, Budni (MP) has tested the first-ever electric Tractor in the Institute.
Accordingly, the institute has tested the tractor & released the Draft Test Report in February, 2021.
Central farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute, Budni (MP) has obtained the NABL Certificate of Accreditation for CMVR Test Laboratory, on 30th March, 2021.

China launched Unmanned Module of Space Station Planned for 2022
⇒ China launched unmanned module of space station planned for 2022 on 29 April 2021. The unmanned module containing what will become living quarters for three crew on a permanent space station that it plans to complete by the end of 2022.
The module, named “Tianhe”, or “Harmony of the Heavens”, was launched on the Long March 5B, China’s largest carrier rocket, from the wenchang space launch centre on the southern island of Hainan.
Tianhe is one of three main components of what would be China’s first self-developed space station. The Tianhe launch was the first of 11 missions needed to complete the space station. It will orbit Earth at an altitude of 340 to 450 km.

2021 Archery World Cup
⇒ The 2021 Archery World Cup is the 15th edition of the international archery circuit organised annually by World Archery.
Schedule:
The 2021 Archery World Cup comprises four events. It is being organised from 19 April to 2 September 2021.
All the four events being held at different places:
1. Guatemala City, Guatemala: 19-25 April
2. Lausanne, Switzerland: 17-23 May
3. Paris, France: 21-27 June
4. Yankton, United States: 01-02 September (World Cup Final)
Indian Archer at Tournament’s First Stage:
In the tournament’s first stage at Guatemala City, Guatemala, Indian archer Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das led the show with two individual gold medals.
- Deepika Kumari won Gold medal in Women’s recurve individual categories.
- Atanu Das won Gold medal in Men’s recurve individual categories.
- In the Women’s recurve team, Ankita Bhakat, Deepika Kumari, & Komalika Bari jointly won Gold medal.
- In the Mixed recurve team, Atanu Das and Ankita Bhakat jointly bagged a bronze medal.
India won the total 4 medals including 3 Gold & 1 Bronze.

Indian Olympic Association vice-president, Janardhan Singh Gehlot
⇒ Former Rajasthan minister & Indian Olympic Association vice-president Janardhan Singh Gehlot died in Jaipur 28 April 2021. He was 70.
Gehlot was elected as IOA vice presidents in the 2017 elections. He was also serving as the president of the Rajasthan Olympic Association.
Gehlot was also the founder president of International Kabaddi Federation.
Tamil Cinematographer, Film Director, KV Anand
⇒ Tamil Cinematographer, Film Director, KV Anand passed away on 30 April 2021 in Chennai. He was 54.
Anand won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for his debut film, Thenmavin Kombath in 1994. He directed various films such as Ko, Maattrraan, Anegan, Kavan, Kaappaan.
