Appointment of Economic Affairs Secretary in the Finance Ministry

  • The government has appointed IAS Ajay Seth as Economic Affairs Secretary in the Finance Ministry. He is 1987-batch Karnataka cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Outgoing Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, IAS Tarun Bajaj has been appointed as Revenue Secretary in the Finance Ministry. Mr Bajaj is a 1988-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer.

'Anamaya' (अनामय) Scheme

  • Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare along with Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs launched ‘Anamaya’, the Tribal Health Collaborative through video conference on 07 April 2021.

‘Anamaya’ is a multi-stakeholder initiative supported by Piramal Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

‘Anamaya’ scheme will converge efforts of various Government agencies and organisations to enhance the health and nutrition status of the tribal communities of India.

'Integrated IoT Solutions' for Enterprises

  • Bharti Airtel & Vi Business has launched Integrated ‘IoT’ Solutions for enterprises.

Internet of Things (IoT) is an end-to-end platform with the capability to connect and manage billions of devices and applications in a highly secure and seamless fashion. The launch of Integrated IoT Solutions is a strategic step towards 5G platform.

International

Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane's Bangladesh visit

  • Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane visited Bangladesh for five-days from 8 April to 12 April, 2021.

During the visit he further deepened the bilateral relationships between the two armies and acted as a catalyst for closer coordination and cooperation between the two countries on a host of strategic issues.

He also attended the closing ceremony of exercise ‘Shantir Ogrosena’, a multilateral UN-mandated counter-terrorism exercise from April 4 to 12.

Army officer Earned two Guinness World Records

  • Indian Army Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Pannu has earned two Guinness World Records for his fastest solo cycling feats.
First Record: 

He cycled from Leh to Manali (472 km distance) in just 35 hours and 25 minutes, on 10 October 2020.

Second Record:

He cycled the 5,942 km long ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ route in 14 days, 23 hours and 52 minutes. ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ route connects Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

Second Edition of WHO's 'Health for All' Film Festival

  • The second edition of WHO Health for All Film Festival has shortlisted short films from 1,200-odd entries from 110 countries. The Winners will be announced in May.

Filmmaker Aaron Mathew’s Short film, ‘The Invisible Humans’ has been shortlisted for the second edition of WHO ‘Health For All’ Film Festival.

ICC Player of the Month Awards for March 2021

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) on 13 April 2021 announced the winners of the ICC Player of the Month Awards for March 2021.

India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the ICC Men’s ‘Player of the Month’ for March 2021 & South Africa’s Lizelle Lee won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March 2021.

Head Coach of the U.S. Men’s Hockey Team

  • Former India coach Harendra Singh has been appointed as the new head coach of the U.S. men’s hockey team.

Mr Harendra has served as the head coach of the senior Indian men’s hockey team, and as the head coach of the Indian women’s team.

Death

Veteran actress, Prathima Devi

  • Kannada cinema veteran actress, Prathima Devi passed away on 06 April 2021. She was 88.

She was honored with Dr Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award by the Karnataka Government for 2000-01. She worked in several movies, such as Krishnaleela, Jaganmohini, Rama Shama Bhama etc.

British Actor, Paul Ritter

  • Versatile British actor, Paul Ritter has died in 05 April 2021. He was 54. He starred in the 2009 film ‘Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince’.
