  • Retired IAS officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar appointed as new State Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh on 03 August 2020.
  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister will be launching “e-Rakshabandhan“, a month-long awareness programme on the safety of women and children in cyberspace.

36th International Geological Congress:

  • Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the date of the 36th International Geological Congress is rescheduled, previously the date was set to 9-14 November 2020. 
  • Now it will be held on 16-21 August 2021.
 6th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting:
  • Indian representative Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar participated in 6th BRICS Environment Ministers Meeting through video conferencing on 30 July 2020 . 
  • 6th BRICS Meeting held under presidency of Russia
  • India will assume the BRICS Presidency in 2021.
Death:
  • Northern Ireland politician John Hume who is nobel laureate died on 03 aug 2020. He was a founding member of the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP). His campaigning for the peace deal in 1998 played a major role in the peace talks, which led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
