  • The Asian Football Confederation postponed all men’s qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup, Which was scheduled in October and November. The programme of the games will be rescheduled in 2021.
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch platform for “Transparent Taxation – Honoring the Honest” via video conferencing at 11 AM on 13th Aug 2020. The main focus of the tax reforms has been on reduction in tax rates and on simplification of direct tax laws. Aim of Transparent Taxation is to easing compliance and expediting refunds, benefiting honest taxpayers.
  • Indian Institute of Technology Madras is launching “SIDDHI” (Self-reliant India: Discussions and Dialogues for Humane Innovations) on 14th August 2020. SIDDHI fortnightly webinar series is on Socially Relevant Technologies to mark the 150th upcoming Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

  • Lyricist P K Muthusamy died due to age-related ailments on 11 Aug 2020. He was 100.
  • Former Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader S A Khaleel Basha passed away in Hyderabad on 11 August 2020.
