'Chunar Logistics Park' in Mirzapur

⇒ The Minister of State (MoS) for Commerce & Industry, Smt Anupriya Patel laid the foundation stone of ‘Chunar Logistics Park’ in Mirzapur, UP on 05 September 2022.

Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Smt Anupriya Patel said:
    • ‘Chunar Logistics Park’ will pave the way for development of the people of Chunar and surrounding areas.
    • The setting up of Logistics Park will also lead to a significant increase in employment generation. It will also play an important role in promoting rail freight transportation and reduce logistics cost and transit time, thereby giving a fillip to the local carpet and handicrafts industry.
    • Initially under this project, a facility for around 400 containers will be developed and 2000 square mtr Godowns will be provided for storage and handling of cargo.
    • The facility will also include round the clock security, CCTV cameras, state-of-the-art container handling equipment. 
    • She added that based on the requirement of trade and industry and keeping in view the commercial viability, the services in the Logistics Park will be expanded in a phased manner.

National Award to Teachers (NAT) for the year 2022

⇒ President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Awards to Teachers 2022 to 46 selected awardees on 5th September 2022 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education has been organising a National level function on Teachers Day i.e. 5th September every year to confer the National Awards to best teachers of the country, selected through a rigorous transparent and online three stage selection process.

Aim:

The purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.

The National Awards to Teachers accords public recognition to meritorious teachers working in elementary and secondary schools.

New initiative 'PM SHRI Schools (PM ScHools for Rising India)'

⇒ On the occasion of National Teachers’ Day, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced a new initiative ‘PM SHRI Schools (PM ScHools for Rising India)’.

This will be a new centrally sponsored scheme for upgradation and development of more than 14500 Schools across the country by strengthening the selected existing schools from amongst schools managed by Central Government/ State/ UT Government/ local bodies.

» PM SHRI Schools will showcase all components of the National Education Policy 2020 and act as exemplar schools and also offer mentorship to other schools in their vicinity.

    • The aim of these schools will not only be qualitative teaching, learning and cognitive development, but also creating holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills.
Key Points:
    • The PM-SHRI schools will have a modern, transformational and holistic method of imparting education.
    • Pedagogy adopted in these schools will be more experiential, holistic, integrated, play/toy-based (particularly, in the foundational years) inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centred, discussion-based, flexible and enjoyable.
    • Focus will be on achieving proficiency in learning outcomes of every child in every grade.
    • Assessment at all levels will be based on conceptual understanding and application of knowledge to real life situations and will be competency-based.
    • These schools will be equipped with modern infrastructure including labs, smart classrooms, libraries, sports equipment, art room etc. which is inclusive and accessible.
    • These schools shall also be developed as green schools with water conservation, waste recycling, energy-efficient infrastructure and integration of organic lifestyle in curriculum.

International

Exercise Vostok - 2022

⇒ A multilateral strategic and command Exercise Vostok – 2022 was commenced on 01 September 2022 at the training grounds of the Eastern Military District of Russia. The exercise was conducted from 01 to 07 September 2022.

    • The exercise was aimed at interaction and coordination amongst other participating military contingents and observers.

» The Indian Army contingent comprising of troops from 7/8 Gorkha Rifles participated in Exercise Vostok- 2022 at Sergeyevsky, East Military District Russia.

    • Over seven days they undertook joint manoeuvres to include joint field training exercises, combat discussions, and firepower exercises.
    • The Indian Army contingent shared practical aspects and put into practice the validated drills, procedures and practice amalgamation of new technology through discussions and tactical exercises.

⇒ Teachers’ Day in India:

India celebrates Teachers’ Day on September 5, every year.

    • The Teachers’ Day celebrations take place on September 5 across India, to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
World Teachers’ Day 2022:

World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe.

Theme:

The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2022 was “The transformation of education begins with teachers”.

It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally.

History:
    • It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.
    • The Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel was adopted in 1997 to complement the 1966 Recommendation by covering teaching personnel in higher education.
    • World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994.

» World Teachers’ Day is co-convened in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF and Education International (EI).
