Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2021

On the occasion of Civil Services Day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi conferred the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2021 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 21 April 2022.

This year 10 awards were given for 5 identified Priority Programmes, while 6 awards were given to organizations of Central/State Government/District for innovations.

Exemplary work done in the following five identified Priority Programmes have been felicitated on Civil Services Day 2022:
  1. Promoting “Jan Bhagidari” or People’s Participation in Poshan Abhiyan
  2. Promoting excellence in sports and wellness through Khelo India scheme
  3. Digital payments and Good Governance in PM SVANidhi Yojana
  4. Holistic Development through One District One Product scheme
  5. Seamless, End-to-End Delivery of Services without Human Intervention

List of Winners of Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2021:

Innovation (General) – Central Category:

» The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) received the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2020 for its scheme ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ (ONORC). The award was presented under the category “Innovation (General)-Central”.

» The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN (UdeDeshkaAamNagrik) has been awarded Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2020 under the category “Innovation (General) – Central”.

Other Award Winners:

» Churu & Bishnupur Districts received Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in Khelo India.

    • In the category of “Promoting excellence in sports and wellness through Khelo India Scheme”, Churu, Rajasthan has emerged as the best performing district, and the second spot has gone to Bishnupur, Manipur.

» Innovation Category – State: Technology- Driven Transformation of School Education System in Gujarat through Vidya Samiksha Kendra, Education Department (Primary & Secondary), Gujarat

» Innovation Category – State: Building of Efficient Greenhouse to Grow Crops, Agriculture Department Ladakh

» Innovation Category – Centre: National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS), Department of Land Resources

» Innovation Category – Centre: Innovations for Defence Excellence (i-DEX), Department of Defence Production

About Award:
  • Government of India has instituted the “The Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration” scheme in 2006. The Scheme was restructured in 2014 and 2020.
  • Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration have been instituted with a view to recognize the extraordinary and innovative work done by Districts/implementing units and Central/State organisations for the welfare of common citizens.
